Disambiguation category

[edit]

Although this category is supposed to be deleted, I'd like to see it stay as a disambiguation category. The problem with deleting it is that it would just get created again by some well meaning editor. This way at least there's a record of why we wanted it removed, and links to the relevent discussion pages. -- ProveIt (talk) 05:31, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

can categories be redirected? --WildKard84 02:41, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

comment from category page

[edit]

Brian May — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.144.25.158 (talkcontribs) 9 July 2008

First thing: If you want to add the Brian May article to a category, you have to edit the article, not the category. There are more detailed instructions at Wikipedia:Categorization#How_to_categorize_an_article.
Second thing: This is a disambiguation category, and should not have any articles added to it. Brian May should go in Category:English bass guitarists or Category:English double-bassists (or both) as appropriate. —Paul A (talk) 01:28, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

bassists?

[edit]

To the anonymous person who keeps adding subcategories:

Even if this weren't a disambiguation page, and subcategories were allowed, most of those you're adding would be inappropriate. I can see what Category:Bass guitarists and Category:Double-bassists would be doing here – but since when have Category:Bass clarinetists, Category:Bass drum players or Category:Bass-baritones been called "bassists"? —Paul A (talk) 02:33, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
