Why do we need this category?

Why is it important to know, about an Israeli secular Jew (like me) that his or her grandparents (or great-grandparents) came to Israel from Eastern-Europe? Are we researching hereditary diseases here?Eddau (talk) 14:29, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
