Is the point of this category to be exhaustive?

Is the point of this category to be exhaustive or to highlight the most prominent of American cellists? If this list is to include all American cellists with Wikipedia entries, it is much to short, and many important ones are missing. If the list is supposed to be selective, then many of those currently included seem arbitrary, or placed here for promotional reasons. HenryPurcell (talk) 19:02, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@HenryPurcell:Hi. Check the several subcategories. For example, there are more cellists in the subcategory Category:American classical cellists. Generally, when the subject is included in a subcategory, it should not also appear in the parent cat. See WP:CATSPECIFIC.

No category is intended to be an exhaustive list. However, we strive for every article to be categorized correctly. If you find or know of a WP article about an American cellist that is not in this category, either directly or in one of its subcategories, then you can help out by adding the appropriate cat to it:) --DB1729^talk 13:37, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
