Opposed speedy move request
[edit]- Category:Acts of the National Assembly for Wales to Category:Acts of Senedd Cymru – Welsh Parliament – C2C per head article Senedd Cymru – Welsh Parliament, as renamed at Talk:Senedd Cymru – Welsh_Parliament#Requested_move_6_May_2020. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 19:25, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose move of Category:Acts of the National Assembly for Wales to Category:Acts of Senedd Cymru – Welsh Parliament. All present members of the category were passed when it had its former name, and that name is still in the official text of each Act. The last Act passed by the National Assembly for Wales was the Children (Abolition of Defence of Reasonable Punishment) (Wales) Act 2020 which is further described as
2020 anaw 3 An Act of the National Assembly for Wales to ...
whereas the first Act passed by the Senedd Cymru was the Health and Social Care (Quality and Engagement) (Wales) Act 2020 which is further described as2020 asc 1 An Act of the National Assembly for Wales to ...
Note that whilst the numbering prefix has changed from anaw to asc, and the numbering restarted at 1, the text of the Act still saysNational Assembly for Wales
. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 21:34, 29 August 2020 (UTC)- @Redrose64: this is not a new body. It is a change of name, so it should use the current name. If you are proposing to have separate categories for before and after the name change, then that would be a novel approach. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 19:16, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
- Note to admins. Since only one category of the 20 subcats of Category:National Assembly for Wales set is opposed, I have split[1] it out from the group nomination. I hope that this will allow the other categories to proceed.
- And I still hope that Redrose64 will reconsider their objection. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 19:30, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
- Can we at least get this move revoked? It has created an even worse historical fiction, because there have been no Measures passed since 2011, when the National Assembly for Wales gained the right to pass Acts. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:58, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Redrose64: that's done, so this is not the place to raise that. Feel free to make a speedy nom to revert it. I think you are right about the measures, but wrong about the Acts. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 21:58, 2 September 2020 (UTC)

- @Redrose64: in your comment of 2 September did you mean to withdraw your objection to this nomination? If not, I presume that User:BrownHairedGirl will move this to full discussion. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:21, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
- For clarity, I oppose both the move of Category:Measures of the National Assembly for Wales to Category:Measures of Senedd Cymru – Welsh Parliament and of Category:Acts of the National Assembly for Wales to Category:Acts of Senedd Cymru – Welsh Parliament but I only managed to catch one before it occurred. As far as legislation passed by that body is concerned, there is no legal provision for the existing Measures of the National Assembly for Wales to be altered to become Measures of Senedd Cymru – Welsh Parliament; similarly, existing Acts of the National Assembly for Wales will not be altered; there have never been (and never will be) any Measures of Senedd Cymru – Welsh Parliament; but (barring revolution or defeat in war) there will be future Acts of Senedd Cymru – Welsh Parliament. This last group will only comprise new legislation. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:27, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
