Category:Social realism

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Social realism is an artistic movement, expressed in the visual, theatrical, written and other arts, which attempts a realistic - and often critical - depiction of working class life. Many artists who subscribed to Social Realism were painters with socialist political views. The movement therefore has some commonalities with - but is ideologically distinct from - the Socialist Realism produced officially by some Communist states.
