Category:Breweries in Nottinghamshire
Appearance
Nottinghamshire has a long history of brewing and of growing hops. The most northerly hop market was held at Retford, with North Clay hops said to produce the extreme bitterness of traditional Nottinghamshire beer while aiding in its longevity. Many historic breweries such as Home Ales and Mansfield Brewery were bought by other breweries, production moved to other areas and/or closed down during the 1970s, 80s and 90s. More recently there has been a resurgence in small, independent breweries across the county.
