Brice J. Rhodes (born January 1990), also known as "Rambo",[5] is an American criminal and convicted murderer. He was sentenced to three life sentences for the 2016 triple murders of 40-year-old Christopher Jones, 14-year-old Larry Ordway and 16-year-old Maurice "Reece" Gordon without the possibility of parole.[6]

Early crimes

[edit]

Rhodes was on probation for domestic assault for two incidents that occurred in 2013 and 2014.[4] Later in 2014, he was again charged by his mother, Shawna, who alleged that he grabbed her by the neck and hit her in the temple.[4] He was also previously convicted as a sex offender.[4] In total, he had already been convicted twice for assault, four times for domestic violence, and twice for violating terms for his probation.[4]

Murders

[edit]

On May 4, 2016, around nighttime, Rhodes was in the back seat of the vehicle behind Gordon who was driving the car, while Brice Rhodes shot Christopher Jones in a drive-by shooting on South 41st Street with a 9mm gun.[2][7] It was believed that Rhodes mistook someone who was a target of a contract killing.[8] Later that month, Rhodes stabbed the teen brothers, Larry Ordway and Maurice Gordon, inside his home after finding out the brothers were talking to people, including their mother, about the shooting that took place. Their bodies were found in the Shawnee neighborhood inside of an abandoned house[9] where Rhodes set them on fire, after he had tied them up inside the bathroom at his home, with socks stuffed in their mouths, and stabbed them to death.[10]

Arrest, trial and sentence

[edit]

On May 24, 2016, Rhodes was arrested for the murder after police spotted him on Preston Highway[4] and arrested him using the warrant from his domestic abuse case from Indiana.[4] The murder charge was three counts, including two counts of assault, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.[1]
