Brandon Antonio Rembert (born October 17, 1998) is an American Major League Baseball scout and former college baseball outfielder for the Alcorn State University Braves.[1][2][3][4]In February 2022, he was hired by the Pittsburgh Pirates of Major League Baseball as a Minor League Baseball Operations Assistant.
Biography

[edit]Rembert was born on October 17, 1998, in Pensacola, Florida, and is the second of seven children of Orenthal and Cheryl Rembert. He attended Booker T. Washington High School from 2012 to 2016, where he received three varsity letters as an outfielder.[5][6][7][8]
Career
[edit]Following high school, Rembert enrolled at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama, where he played on the junior varsity baseball team during his freshman year. He then transferred to Coastal Alabama Community College's Brewton campus, where, in his sophomore season, he posted a .274 batting average, recording 13 RBIs and scoring 10 runs.[9][10][11][12]
Rembert continued his collegiate career at Alcorn State University. In his junior season (2019), he achieved a .345 batting average, collecting 48 hits, 9 doubles, 3 home runs, 22 RBIs, and a .462 on-base percentage. In 2020, Rembert was named a First Team Preseason All-SWAC selection and recognized as a player to watch by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. During the abbreviated 2020 season, he batted .255 with one home run and six RBIs.[13][14][12][7] Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, his senior season was cut short, but he returned for a fifth year in 2021. That season, he was ranked as the 10th best HBCU MLB Draft prospect by Black College Nines and finished with a .200 batting average, 7 hits, 2 doubles, and a .310 on-base percentage in 10 games.[15][16][17][18]
Post-playing career
[edit]In 2022, Rembert was hired by the Pittsburgh Pirates as a Minor League Baseball Operations Assistant.[19][20][21][22] By October 2023, he had transitioned into the role of Development Scout with the Pirates' Amateur Scouting Department.[23][24][25][8] In the following year, Rembert was promoted to Area Supervisor for the organization.
