Beckfoot Quarry is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)[1][2] within Lake District National Park in Cumbria, England. It is located between Beckfoot and Eskdale, near to the River Esk and near the Ravenglass & Eskdale railway.
Details
[edit]This quarry is protected because it contains an exposure of a pink perthite granite dated from the Ordovician age. Perthite granite is an igneous rock.
Land ownership
[edit]All of the land within Beckfoot Quarry SSSI is owned by the National Trust.[3]
