Umar Kamaal Farooqui (born 26th June 1992) is a politician and a Barrister from England and Wales. He is currently a leader of Indian National Congress and a former State Spokesperson of Nationalist Congress Party, Maharashtra.

Personal Life

Umar Kamaal Farooqui was born in Aurangabad, Maharashtra India to a prominent political and feudal family of Marathwada region. His father Kamaal Farooqui held various senior positions in political parties and ministerial rank in Maharashtra Government.

Barrister Umar Farooqui married in 2013 and has two children.

Education

Umar Kamaal Farooqui was called to the bar of England and Wales as a Barrister by Lincoln’s Inn, London. He completed a Master’s in Law (LLM) in Legal Practice at the University of Law, Manchester Campus, and a Graduate Diploma in Law at the University of Central Lancashire. His academic background also includes a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Maulana Azad College and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the Millennium Institute of Management. In addition, he holds a Diploma in TV Journalism from MGM College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Farooqui completed his schooling from a convent institution, Holy Cross English High School Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra.

Political Career

Umar Kamaal Farooqui joined politics in 2010 with Nationalist Congress Party's student wing (NSC) and held position of the Vice President in the organisation of Maharashtra State.

In 2018 Farooqui was appointed as the State Spokesperson of Nationalist Congress Party, Maharashtra whereby becoming the youngest spokesperson in country after Raghav Chaddha. He has represented the NCP on various TV debates.

In 2024 ahead of State Elections, Barrister Farooqui joined Indian National Congress along with his father.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]

Barrister Farooqui is known as one of the most educated leaders of Maharashtra and is a prominent voice for Muslims in Maharashtra
