Bao Tranchi is a Vietnamese American costume and fashion designer.[1][2] She is best known for her work on The Greatest Beer Run Ever and Once Upon a Time in Vietnam.[3][4]
Life and career
[edit]Tranchi was born in Saigon, South Vietnam before emigrating to the United States.[5] She graduated from Otis College of Art and Design in 1999.[6] She becomes the youngest person to be admitted into the Costume Designers Guild and worked on Charlie’s Angels and Hedwig and the Angry Inch.[7] She made her debut as a costume designer with the feature film Journey from the Fall, directed by Ham Tran in 2006.[8] She launched her own fashion label, "Bao Tranchi" in 2015.[9] Her work has been included in several publications, including Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Elle and Women's Wear Daily.[10][11][12]
Tranchi was the second runner-up in the second season of Netflix's Next in Fashion.[9] Her designs have been worn by Jennifer Lopez, Ashley Graham, Nicki Minaj, Gigi Hadid, Laverne Cox and more.[13][14][15]
