Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Ulama Dal (Bengali: বাংলাদেশ জাতীয়তাবাদী ওলামা দল, lit. 'Bangladesh Nationalist Islamic Clergy Party')[1] is the Islamic scholar (Ulama) wing of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).[2]
History
[edit]On 30 September 1979, President Ziaur Rahman founded the Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Ulama Dal with Muslim scholars (Ulama).[2] Later on, Maulana SM Ruhul Amin was made the president and Moazzem Hossain as the general secretary when the first conference of the group occurred.[3][4]
Central Committee
[edit]171-member committee was formed on 5 April 2019 and then a new partial standing committee was formed on 26 April 2024 with the approval of Bangladesh Nationalist Party,[5] and another central committee was announced in July 2024, The committee has 137 members including Mawlanas and religious scholars.[6][7]
