Balanovac is a village in the municipality of Knjaževac, Serbia. In 2002, it had a population of 328.[1]
The Festing Building
[edit]At the entrance to the village stands the Church of St. John the Baptist (Serbian: Црква Светог Јована Претече). The village also contains the ruin of the Festing Building. It was an important gathering place for the community in Balanovac.
Graveyard of the Fallen
[edit]The Graveyard of the Fallen contains the grave of Lidija Antić. There is also sculpture of a table with a cup in a pathc of white sand, memorializing Antić. It is a local custom to place a little Serbian wine on the table as a tribute to the fallen.
