Aurora Threats

Aurora Threats is an American writer, creator, actress, and producer. She is recognized for being the first woman in the United States to collaborate with talent from Ghana on the animated short film Supercilious, which earned a nomination at the 54th NAACP Image Awards.

Early Life and Education

Threats was born in Lake Providence, Louisiana. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Theatre Education from Grambling State University and a Master of Science in Human Relations and Business from Amberton University. Threats is a Lifetime Member of the Grambling University National Alumni Association (GUNAA) and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.. After moving to Los Angeles, she studied at Marla Gibbs' Crossroads Arts Academy.

Career

Aurora Threats has built a multi-faceted career that spans theater, film, television, and writing. She was honored by Success Magazine [[1]] as a Success 2023 Woman of Influence for her achievements. Her breakthrough came with her national performances in the acclaimed stage play comedy Beauty Shop [[2]], which completed a 50-city tour, selling out every venue and holding a historical box office record in African American theater.[1] Threats performed at some of the most iconic venues across the country, including the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles, the Beacon Theatre on Broadway in New York, Constitution Hall in Washington, DC, and the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles.

Aurora toured with the play Barber Shop, solidifying her presence in African American theater.[2] In 2018, she wrote the stage play So Heavenly Bound No Earthly Good, further exploring African American narratives through comedy and theater.

Expanding her creative talents into film, Aurora served as the writer, creator, and executive producer of the multi-award-winning animated short film Supercilious. This groundbreaking project made her the first woman in the U.S. to collaborate with Ghanaian talent on an animated short, and it earned recognition at the 54th NAACP Image Awards.[3]

Additionally, Aurora has contributed to the literary world as a freelance inspiration writer for Southern Dallas Business & Living Magazine, offering insights and uplifting stories to readers in the Dallas area.[4]

Through her work across various platforms, Aurora Threats continues to break new ground in storytelling and creative production.

Humanitarianism and Honors

Aurora's impact reaches far beyond her professional accomplishments. Recognized for her dedicated advocacy for various social causes and her commitment to humanitarianism, she serves as a beacon of inspiration, influencing others across multiple fields. In the Dallas/Fort Worth area, she actively supports initiatives aimed at youth development, education, and community empowerment. She volunteered with the Boys & Girls Club Of Greater Fort Worth. She supports causes like Susan G. Komen for the Cure, UNCF, and Make-A-Wish Foundation. Aurora holds the esteemed honor of being the first individual to receive the Key to her hometown of Lake Providence, LA in acknowledgment of her exceptional contributions to the arts and her role as an inspiration to their East Carroll Parish community and the world.
