Arvid Lindblad (born 8 August 2007) is a British and Swedish racing driver, who is set to compete in the 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship for Campos.
Born and raised in Virginia Water to a Swedish father and a mother of Indian heritage,[1] Lindblad began competitive kart racing aged seven, winning several national and continental titles. A protégé of Oliver Rowland,[2] Lindblad graduated to junior formulae aged 15, competing in Italian F4 from 2022 to 2023, and finishing third in the latter with Prema. After winning in Formula 4 at the 2023 Macau Grand Prix, Lindblad progressed to FIA Formula 3 in 2024, achieving four wins and placing fourth in the standings. Lindblad is set to graduate to FIA Formula 2 with Campos for the 2025 season.
A member of the Red Bull Junior Team since 2021,[3] Lindblad completed his first Formula One showrun in September 2024, driving the Red Bull RB8 in Houston.[4]
Career
[edit]Karting
[edit]Lindblad started karting in 2015.[5] In 2020 he won the WSK Super Master Series in the OKJ class.[2] In 2021 he won the WSK Euro Series and the WSK Final Cup for OK karts.[6][7] In the 2022 Champions of the Future Winter Series kart race he crashed out during qualifying heat due to contact and suffered a broken thumb and extensive tissue damage.[8][9]
Formula 4
[edit]2022
[edit]In 2022 Lindblad made his debut single-seater racing by joining Van Amersfoort Racing ahead of the fifth round of the Italian F4 Championship after testing outside of race weekends throughout the year.[10][11][12]
2023
[edit]For the 2023 Italian F4 Championship he joined Prema Racing.[5] Ahead of the season he also joined Hitech Grand Prix to compete in the Formula 4 UAE Championship.[13] In race 3 of the opening round Lindblad took his first Formula 4 win and ultimately finished the season in fifth.[14][15] In the Italian championship Lindblad also got off to a great start, taking six wins from the first four rounds. After winning all three races at Monza Circuit he opened up his championship lead to over 80 points.[16] After struggling for pace at Mugello Circuit he lost his championship lead and ultimately finished the championship in third behind Kacper Sztuka and Ugo Ugochukwu.[15][17]
In November Lindblad joined Prema to compete in the Formula 4 South East Asia Championship round at the Macau Grand Prix Circuit where he’d win both races.[18]
FIA Formula 3 Championship
[edit]In October 2023, Lindblad signed to race with Prema Racing in the 2024 FIA Formula 3 Championship, partnering single-seater champions Gabriele Minì and Dino Beganovic.[15] Lindblad got off to a great start by winning the Bahrain sprint race and picking up 2nd place in the Australia sprint race.
Lindblad continued to pick up points in Imola and Monaco before he took his first feature race victory in Spain. In July 2024, he became the first driver to do the double (Sprint and Feature Race win) at Silverstone, his home race. The double win promoted him to 2nd in the championship 6 points behind teammate Gabriele Mini with 3 rounds to go putting Lindblad firmly in the title fight.
However that would be Lindblad's last points of the season as a string of poor qualifying results at Hungary and Spa and the season finale in Monza resulted in Lindblad failing to score points in all of the last 6 races of the season meaning he finished the season 4th in the championship with 113 points, 40 points behind champion Leonardo Fornaroli. Despite this Lindblad ended the 2024 F3 season as the highest scoring rookie as well as taking 4 race wins, 1 other podium and 1 fastest lap and helping his team Prema win the teams championship scoring 32.19 percent of the teams total points that season.
FIA Formula 2 Championship
[edit]In September 2024, Lindblad announced that he would be promoted to Formula 2 with Campos Racing for 2025.[19]
Formula One
[edit]For the 2021 season Lindblad joined the Red Bull Junior Team as a Red Bull-supported driver.[8][20] Ahead of the 2022 season he became a full member of the Red Bull Junior Team.[7]
Personal life
[edit]Lindblad was born on 8 August 2007 and raised in Virginia Water. His father, Stefan Lindblad, is Swedish, while his mother, Anita Ahuja, is of Indian heritage, making him mixed-race.[1][21] Lindblad was educated at the Royal Grammar School, Guildford.
