Perry Anyuan: Mining China's Revolutionary Tradition 0520271904 2012 "However, lest there be any doubt as to the relative importance of the three, recently erected concrete statues at the coal mine make clear the official Communist party verdict on their comparative standing: a towering statue of the young Mao Zedong is located directly in front of the imposing stairway leading up the mountain to the memorial hall, a three-quarter-sized statue of the young Liu Shaoqi is located next to the workers' club that he rebuilt, and a half-sized bust of the young Li Lisan is tucked away in a corner. Although this official hierarchy is arguably in the opposite order of the actual contributions of the three men to the early Anyuan labor movement, it accurately reflects their fame and popularity among the contemporary sightseeing public."
