Alijah Huzzie is an American football defensive back for the North Carolina Tar Heels. He previously played for the East Tennessee State Buccaneers.
Early life and high school[edit]
Huzzie was born in Lagrange, Georgia and attended high school at Heard County High School. Huzzie would decide to commit to play college football for the East Tennessee State Buccaneers.[1]
College career[edit]
East Tennessee State[edit]
Huzzie had a breakout 2022 season with East Tennessee State where he notched 59 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, six interceptions, 22 passes deflections, and a touchdown.[2] For his performance on the season, Huzzie was named a first team FCS All-American.[3][4] After the conclusion of the 2022 season, Huzzie would decide to enter the NCAA transfer portal.[5][6]
Huzzie would finish his career at East Tennessee State with 179 tackles, 30 pass deflections, and 12 interceptions, over a span of 34 games.[7]
North Carolina[edit]
Huzzie would decide to transfer to North Carolina Tar Heels to continue his career.[8][9] In week four of the 2023 season, Huzzie had a breakout game, where he notched two interceptions, and he returned two punts for 82 yards and a touchdown, as he helped the Tar Heels beat Pittsburgh.[10] For his performance on the game, Huzzie was named the ACC special teams player of the week.[11][12]
