Alexander Shaouni is a 35 year-old former police officer who worked for the Orlando Police Department. He joined the police force as a patrol officer until his suspension and subsequent sacking from his position in 2023.[1][2]
An altercation between Shaouni and Seminole County deputy sheriff was caught on a Police body camera.[1] He is facing charges as well as internal review.[1][3]
Criminality
[edit]On June 6, 2023, Alexander Shaouni of Orlando Police Department was caught recklessly speeding, driving 80 mph in a 45 mph zone. The Seminole County deputy sheriff drove over 90 mph just to catch up to Shaouni. Shaouni can be seen and heard on the viral video with deputy sheriff saying, "What? I am going to work, my man. Why are you trying to pull me over as I am going to work?"[4][3]
Legal Proceedings
[edit]Following his arrest on June 9, 2023,[5][6] Shaouni and his attorney admitted to a pre-trial diversion program with a $9,000 bond[3] that led to the dismissal of multiple counts of Felony between 2023 and 2024.[4][7][8]
Aftermath
[edit]On March 2024, Shaouni pleaded not guilty as charged and is back on duty working the evening shift in the North Patrol Division.[7][9]
