Ajob Karkhana is a 2024 Bangladeshi local musical drama film story, dialogued, screenplay and directed Shabnam Ferdousi and produced by Samia Zaman under Versa Media banner.[1] The film was made with a grant from the Bangladesh government in the fiscal year 2016-17 and the music of the film was composed by band Vikings and Labik Kamal Gaurob, and it was the directorial debut of Shabnam Ferdousi.[2]

Production

The film received a government grant of ৳50 lacs in the 2016-17 financial year. The shooting of this film started in 2019 and the shooting of the film took time to complete due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[3]

Music

Labik Kamal Gaurob has directed the music of the film. The film has five original songs. Out of these 4 songs Helal Hafiz's poetry has been turned into songs.[4]

Release

After releasing on 12 July, the film running until July 17, the 2024 Bangladesh quota reform movement discrimination in its country led to killings, shutdowns, and internet disconnections. In that situation, all promotions of the film were stopped. Later, after the situation in the country improved, the film was released again.[5]

Previews

The film participated in 15 international film festivals around the world and won two awards before it's theatrical release. Screened in the 'Asian Select: Netpack Award' category at the 27th Kolkata International Film Festival in 2022. In January of the same year, Bangladesh was screened at the 20th Dhaka International Film Festival in the Panorama section. Besides, 'Scene from Ganga' was also screened at the Paris, France film festival in October 2023.[6]

Awards

The film won the Best Debut Award at the 8th Jaffna International Film Festival in Sri Lanka and won the FIPRESCI Award at 20th Dhaka International Film Festival.[7]

The film has received two more awards in Gange Sur Seine film festival in Paris, Labik Kamal Gaurob for the (Best Original Music) and Amit Kumar Dutta for the (Best Sound Design).[8]
