The 2025 UEFA Women's Nations League promotion/relegation matches will be the promotion and relegation play-offs of the 2025 edition of the UEFA Women's Nations League, the second season of the international football competition involving the women's national teams of the member associations of UEFA. The play-offs will determine which teams will be promoted, relegated, or remain in their respective leagues for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying competition.
Format
[edit]The promotion/relegation matches will determine the final composition of the leagues for 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup qualification, which will use an identical league structure to the 2025 UEFA Women's Nations League. The matches will be played home-and-away over two legs. If the team from the higher league is the winner, both teams will remain in their respective leagues, whereas if the team from the lower league wins, they will be promoted to the higher league, with the losers relegated to the lower league.[1][2]
The four third-placed teams of League A will play the four runners-up of League B, while the two best-ranked third-placed teams in League B will play the three best-ranked League C runners-up. The teams from the higher leagues will be seeded, and play the second leg at home. In the two-legged ties, the team that scores more goals on aggregate will be the winner. If the aggregate score is level, extra time will be played (the away goals rule will not apply). If the score remains level after extra time, a penalty shoot-out will be used to decide the winner.[1][2]
Draw
[edit]The draw for the promotion/relegation matches is expected to be held on 6 June 2025 in Nyon, Switzerland.[1] They will be held in tandem with the draw for the 2025 UEFA Women's Nations League Finals.[3] In the draws, the teams from the higher leagues will seeded, while the teams from the lower leagues will be unseeded. Seeded teams will play the second leg of their ties at home.[2]
