The 2018 Shillong Premier League is the 9th season of the Shillong Premier League (SPL), Langsning FC are the defending champions. The Shillong Premier League is the second-level state football league in the Indian state of Meghalaya, below the Meghalaya State League, organised by the Shillong Sports Association (SSA),[1] which is affiliated to the Meghalaya Football Association (MFA).[2][3] It was started with 8 teams in 2010 and it kicks off from the 8th April 2023.[4]

Competition format(2018)
[edit]Regular season
[edit]The competition consists of 14 rounds that follows a Double round-robin format, with each club playing the others Twice, at SSA Stadium, First Ground, Polo, for a total of 12 matches each. Teams receive three points for a win, one point for a draw, and no points for a loss. The top 4 ranked teams at the end of the regular season qualifies for the playoffs.
The position of each team is determined by the highest number of points accumulated during the regular season. If two or more teams are level on points, the following criteria are applied in order until one of the teams can be determined as the higher ranked
- Highest number of points accumulated in matches between the teams concerned
- Highest goal difference in matches between the teams concerned
- Highest number of goals scored in matches between the teams concerned
- Highest goal difference
- Highest number of goals scored
Playoffs
[edit]The Top 4 ranked club at the end of the regular season qualifies for the playoffs . Where, Position 1 and 2 play each other, Winner goes to the final directly, and the loser plays the winner from the match played between Position 3 and 4, and the loser between position 3 and 4 gets eliminated
In the next stage say position 1 lost and position 4 won then they will play each other and winner will qualify for the final and play against position 2
