Result of election
The Czech Republic had held its parliamentary elections in 2002 across 15th and 16th June. The Czech Social Democratic Party (CSSD) were the winners of the election, where it managed to secure 71 seats in the parliament, which has a total strength of 200 seats.[ 1] Their opposition in this parliamentary elections was the Civic Democrats, who were placed second with 56 seats in the parliament.[ 2] Unlike the total attendance of the 1998 elections, which was 74%, the 2002 elections saw a total voter attendance of 58%. The Communist Part also performed comparatively well since the Velvet Revolution of 1989, with securing the third place by 19% of seats, making the Christian Democratic Union and Freedom Union alliance fourth in place by 14% of seats.
