Żegocina [ʐɛɡɔˈt͡ɕina] is a village and sołectwo in Bochnia County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in southern Poland.[2] It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Żegocina. It lies on road number 965, approximately 21 kilometres (13 mi) south of Bochnia and 46 km (29 mi) south-east of the regional capital Kraków.
Origins
[edit]The settlement was founded by Wierzbięta in the 12th century. A church was established in 1293 by the knight Zbigniew Żegota, of the clan Topór.[3]
