The concept of "open" signified [[open source]] or free nature of the material obtained at the organization or entity. The purpose of an open autonomous university is to provide open education to everyone without prejudice to creed, gender or monitory/ financial requirement. Open autonomous universities enjoy the pedagogical principles founding open course ware and open source concepts to provide an autonomous expert system for learning.

The driving force behind such an organization is that it doesn't matter if a student or group is learning from an autonomous expert system or from an expert space occupying institution, one is learning nonetheless, and ones knowledge can be metered by conventional metrics.
