[edit]- Question - do you work for Wikipedia. I added the "RED SOX" entry a few minutes ago to see how long it would take to get changed. Not trying to be a pain, just trying to get a better idea of how this works.
- Hello, I added some stuff to your Quabbin Aqueduct. Hope you like it. LymanSchool 00:42, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- If you follow the links, you will see that your start, helped me quite a bit: Ware River Diversion, Ware River, etc. I like waterworks! LymanSchool 00:42, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
Picture
[edit]- I added a picture to your aqueduct. I doesn't show much, but it makes it look like the writers tried the best they could. I took a long trip on Saturday, got a picture to finish my Weston Reservoir, got a picture for the Quabbin Aqueduct, got a picture for the Goodnough Dike so I can make a page, and then followed the Swift River all the way to the dam in Bondsville. I was hoping that the pipes would be exposed at the dam or under some bridge. No luck. I probably saw them further down the river at one time. I got tired since I had to walk 2 miles to get pictures for the Goodnough Dike. LymanSchool 22:54, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
Windsor Dam
[edit]- Please correct the spelling of Windsor Dam. You have it Winsor Dam. I added a redirect from my new entry, Goodnough Dike so I didn't have to use the wrong spelling. Note that you can 'move' to the new name
once you fix any spellings inside your page. LymanSchool 15:08, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
- I rechecked what the USCS says about the spelling and you are correct! There are so many ways of spelling it, even on highway signs! Don't change a thing. LymanSchool 15:44, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Massachusetts Water
[edit]Thanks for the link. BYW, I helped a Ukranian friend, Konstantine Prokopenko, get started in his new country. He got a green-card via lottery. He now lives in New York and sometimes sends email, but he worked with me in the Boston area for about five years.LymanSchool 12:34, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Portals
[edit]If you are interested in Ukraine-related themes, you may want to check out the Ukraine Portal, particularly the Portal:Ukraine/New article announcements and Portal:Ukraine/Ukraine-related Wikipedia notice board. The New article announcements board is probably the most important and the most attended one. Please don't forget to anounce there the new articles you create. Adding both boards to your watchlist is probably a good idea.
Finally, in case you are interested, similar boards exist at Russia portal as many editors contribute to topics related to both countries. The respective boards there are: Portal:Russia/New article announcements and Portal:Russia/Russia-related Wikipedia notice board. Of course there are also many other portals at Wikipedia or you may just get right into editing.
Again, welcome!--Irpen 03:49, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
RMS Queen Mary
[edit]Regarding your edit to the RMS Queen Mary article: the {{Geolinks-US-buildingscale}} template is for the links to maps that are in the External links section. The {{CoorHeader}} template is for the geographic coordinates at the top of the page (which are also beginning to get used by some of the external Wikipedia mashups). You should not have deleted the geolinks template. BlankVerse 09:39, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
- {{Geolinks-US-buildingscale}} has to be fixed and should not display the coordinates at the top. Otherwise the article is for "Wikipedia mashups only", not for Wikipedia readers. Only one set of coordinates should be displayed at the top, with both templates applied coordinates are not readable. Solarapex 16:12, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
- I don't have any display problems (using Mozilla Firefox/MonoBook skin), but I agree that there shouldn't be two templates trying to display the coordinates. I am deleting the CoorHeader template, and also leaving a message on the geolinks template's talk page. BlankVerse 00:41, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, here is what I saw before making changes
- - http://www.solarapex.net/wiki/QueenMary/QM-IE.png - Internet Explorer 6
- - http://www.solarapex.net/wiki/QueenMary/QM-FF1507.png - Firefox 1.5.0.7
- - http://www.solarapex.net/wiki/QueenMary/QM-FF2.png - Firefox 2
- In all cases coordinates were overlapping. Thank you for making the changes. Solarapex 01:44, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Wikiproject
[edit]There is a clear need for a Wikiproject Geology. I recommend you read the guidelines (ignoring the proposal stage) and start the page with the seven users, a category tree and a proposed scope. A short cut like WP:GEOL might be nice. Then go on a recruiting drive. That is my opinion anyway. Best wishes for the new project. ☻ Fred|☝ discussion|✍ contributions 04:08, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
re: Geology project
[edit]Merging the Geologic timeline project into the Geology project seems quite opportune. It is, otherwise, quite dead anyway. Given this, I can't exactly guarantee that I'd be quite active, but to merge it in I can join. -- EmperorBMA|話す 02:55, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. Any help other than deletion is much appreciated. Solarapex 05:36, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Astrogeology vs. Planetary Geology
[edit]I know it seems counterintuitive, but "planetary geology" includes non-planet bodies: moons, comets, asteroids, meteorites, etc. Even people who study craters on the Earth generally call themselves planetary geologists. In fact, "Planetary Geology" and "Astrogeology" are completely interchangable as far as their definitions, it's just that nobody uses "Astrogeology" anymore, except for the USGS for some strange reason. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by IntrplnetSarah (talk • contribs) 14:49, 8 May 2007 (UTC).

Request for Mediation
[edit]A request for mediation has been filed with the Mediation Committee that lists you as a party. The Mediation Committee requires that all parties listed in a mediation must be notified of the mediation. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Podilsko-Voskresenska Line, and indicate whether you agree or refuse to mediate. If you are unfamiliar with mediation, please refer to Wikipedia:Mediation. There are only seven days for everyone to agree, so please check as soon as possible. — Alex(U|C|E) 02:50, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

References
[edit]Thank you for adding references to math articles. I have a small note about placement though. One should put the references after see also and before external links. There's a style guideline somewhere about that, perhaps at WP:MoS or some of the pages linking from there. Thanks a lot for your work. You can reply here if you have comments. Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 15:46, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
The above mediation is in the full swing. You listed yourself as one of the participants, I was wondering if you have anything to contribute to the discussion? Thanks. --Hillock65 12:37, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
Boston Skyscrapers
[edit]Thanks for your editing of the articles I wrote about Boston skyscrapers, and sorry the typos were atrocious. You could probably tell I copied and pasted the article from one page to the other, and then formated the information to go along with each individual building, but obviously missed a few tidbits here and there. I was going to go back tomorrow and edit each article. I created the articles in order to complete the List of tallest buildings in Boston, which I hope to nominate for Featured List status soon. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for all your work. Raime 03:23, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the new articles. I'll check the articles tomorrow or over the weekend. Also, I'll try to make pictures for those articles this coming weekend. I live in downtown, so it's easy for me. A couple of standard things, I think, need to be done for the skyscrapers. One is coordinates, the other is infoboxes. Solarapex 03:37, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- That is definitely true. I was planning on making the infoboxes tomorrow, when I'm finished with the list. It would great if you can get the pictures, they would really add to the articles. Raime 04:07, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- See my gallery User:Solarapex/Gallery. I have just uploaded a half of them. Pick what you like. I will delete images if they are not used. More on this later. Solarapex 17:07, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Hey, I saw your note on my talk page - thanks for alerting me to the skyscrapers section of the WikiProject Boston area. I have some more photos; I'll put them up there with the other contenders. I'll also upload high-resolution versions of the ones I've already put up. In the meantime, I'm in downtown Boston for a few days - are there any buildings in particular we could use better pictures of? If so, drop me a note on my talk page and I'll snap a few! Good evening (GMT time); you are being given this message, as notification of a Motion to Close Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Podilsko-Voskresenska Line, to which you are listed as a party. The full statement on this motion can be found on this section of the Mediation Location; if you do not agree with the closure, please post your objection in that section, where a response will be placed accordingly.
Otherwise, thank you for working towards the compromise, which has now been reached and implemented into the article. This has resulted in a successful Mediation, and an end to the dispute in question. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,

Boston skyscrapers
[edit]Thank you very much for the update. It looks like the only building that will make on the List of tallest buildings in Boston is the 50-story one, as the otehr two are not over 400 feet. I'll start writing articles when more information is released. Thanks again, Raime 01:24, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Class=NA
[edit]Which article are you referring to (I've assessed a lot recently)? The NA assessment does place the article in a specific category, whether it be Category:Aviation category pages, Category:Aviation template pages, or other subcategories of Category:Non-article aviation pages. These pages (categories/templates/Lists) are not counted in the Stub- to FA-class statistics (here) in any project, as far as I can tell. Do you want this to change? - Trevor MacInnis (Contribs) 04:00, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, I was unaware of this. If it's something you want to work on then by all means go ahead. I'll take a look at it after work tonight as well. Thanks. - Trevor MacInnis (Contribs) 10:02, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Under construction for Image:One Financial Center (Boston) - SA06946.JPG
[edit]Hi, in August, you put an {{under construction}} tag under Image:One Financial Center (Boston) - SA06946.JPG. Is that because of the WikiProject Boston discussion? I'm just wondering why not just fill out the summary information and keep the image either way? I'm just trying to figure why there are so many images found in Category:Articles actively undergoing construction. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 05:19, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yes. I'm fine if these images stay in Wikipedia. I just felt that this may look like I'm creating a photoalbum and put it out for a discussion to see what is the best. If you don't mind to keep them, then I'll provide the summary information. If you feel they should be deleted, I'll mark unused ones for deletion. I'm flexible. Sorry about this. Solarapex 23:26, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- No concerns about deletion. I just think it would be nicer to have the summaries completed, in case someone else wanted to use the images. I don't think there are usually a lot of concerns about free images like that. Good luck and happy editing! -- Ricky81682 (talk) 05:31, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Request for Input in Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Podilsko-Voskresenska Line
[edit]Good evening. You are listed as a party in the above-linked Request for Mediation. Following recent discussion, the active contributors and I have now finalised Proposal 1 as a compromise in this case.
As we are moving to implement this motion to the articles involved in this case, your input in this matter is required. Please read the contents of Proposal 1, and then post your opinion (as "Support" or "Oppose") at the Motion to Implement Proposal 1, in accordance with the instructions listed at the top of that Motion.
If you require any assistance, or have any queries in this matter, details for contacting me both publicly and privately are available here. Please do contribute to this Motion as soon as possible, as your input is very much appreciated and important. You may also wish to read through the build-up discussion to this Proposal, located here.

Speedy deletion of Image:One Financial Center (Boston) - SA06940.JPG
[edit]A tag has been placed on Image:One Financial Center (Boston) - SA06940.JPG, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page and leave a note on [[Talk:Image:One Financial Center (Boston) - SA06940.JPG|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Joancreus (talk) 16:03, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:39, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
Suggestion for WikiProject United States to support WikiProject Arizona
[edit]It was recently suggested that WikiProject Arizona, to which you are a member, may be inactive or semiactive and it might be beneficial to include it in the list of projects supported by WikiProject United States. After reviewing the project it appears that there haven't been much active discussion on the talk page in some time and the only content updates appear to be simple maintenance so being supported by a larger project might be beneficial. I have begun a discussion on the projects talk page to see how the members of the project feel about this suggestion. Another user has added the project to the WPUS template and I added it to the list of supported projects in the WPUS main project page but before I take any further action I wanted to contact each of the active members for their input. --Kumioko (talk) 22:52, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

The events are as follows:
We hope that you will be able to join us, whether you are an experienced editor or are using Wikipedia for the first time. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. 2019 US Banknote Contest
[edit]US Banknote Contest | ||
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |
