Raheeiejaz907[edit]

Last year, you blocked Raheeiejaz907 (talk · contribs) for socking. Raheeiejaz907 renamed the talk page of Atif ahmad8 (talk · contribs) Typically, such actions are indicative of socking as well. While the editing patterns of both users are similar, editing Pakistan military-related BLPs. Thanks for the head's up, User:Saqib. It's highly likely I didn't block because I wasn't aware and so didn't look into it. The sockmaster of Raheeiejaz907 is User:Raheelejaz907 who hasn't edited in a while, so there is unlikely to be much in the way of current technical evidence. I am no longer a checkuser (I never keep those tools when I leave ArbCom) so I couldn't investigate anyway. If Atif ahmad8 is editing unproblematically, and there is no evidence of ongoing socking (that is one user editing the same material simultaneously from two or more accounts), then it's not something that would excite my interest anyway. It's the spirit/intention of the policy/guideline that I tend to follow, rather than strict wording. If Atif ahmad8 starts to edit problematically or in concert with Raheelejaz907, then please let me know, and I'll look into it. SilkTork (talk) 10:03, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

But I believe Atif ahmad8 should be blocked, with the possibility of being unblocked only if they agree not to engage in sockpuppetry again. Lobsterthermidor part III[edit]

Hi SilkTork. Remember Lobsterthermidor (talk · contribs)? You blocked him in Feb '21 and he resurfaced as an IP last May (see here) when you re-blocked him. Well, he's been back editing since at least last October from the IPv6 range 2A00:23C6:C423:4401:0:0:0:0/64 (talk · contribs · WHOIS). I came across the edits by chance while doing AV work. He's staying away from his former editing areas, but there's no doubt about it: compare this (before) and this (after his edits) for example. I haven't looked at the edits in any depth, but the work looks depressingly familiar: superficially good, but bloated and probably riddled with the usual OR and unreliable sources. We are going to Dublin next month. A little late for Bloom's Day, but I shall still visit Davy Byrne's pub where I shall have a cheese sandwich with a glass of wine (they, of course, do have it on the menu: 20 Euros). Chrissie is more interested in Beckett, so will visit Trinity College with Phocea while I do the Guinness tour. We will then tour the south of Ireland in a retro campervan, and go kiss the Blarney stone. My mother's family is from Waterford in Ireland, so this will be something of a pilgrimage for me. Reporting suspicious User[edit]

Hello respected @SilkTork I hope you're well. My name is Parwiz from Panjshir, Afghanistan, and I'm a Wikipedia user. All my activities are focused on my country, Afghanistan. Recently, someone named @Gabriel606 has been opposing my activities without any reason. I don't know what his goal is, but when I visited his talk page, I saw that he had previously been accused of taking money in exchange for publishing articles. It seems that he is involved in activities that are not aligned with Wikipedia's policies, and a team of experienced users is supporting him. I hope they can be identified and blocked.

In June 2023, @Bbb23 asked you a question of your previous account. But you decided not to reply. In January 2023, @Melcous warned you against vadalism but it doesn't seem like you have changed. In June 2024, @thetechie also warned you against WP:CANVASS but you never saw that right. Before I nominated your article for AFD. A lot of your article has been nominated and was deleted because you never submitted them for review. There is no article of yours you have ever submitted and they got accepted. You said "a team of experienced users is supporting him. I hope they can be identified and blocked". You seem to be funny lol. I hope you learn your lessons someday, because all this editors that has ever reached out to you are just trying to help you. If you are concerned that Din Mohammad Jurat is going to be deleted, then your best approach is to look into the concerns about the article, and find reliable sources.

Gabriel601, I am also giving you an informal caution regarding Wikipedia:Casting aspersions, and suggest that you strike the personal comments in your AfD nomination: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Din Mohammad Jurat - these sentences are unnecessary and are personal attacks: "Also the creator of the article seems to be a newbie which I guess hasn't practiced about the wikipedia article wizard before contributing to wikipedia." and "Maybe he had to fake it to make it look like its an independent reliable source". Hi, welcome to Wikipedia, Gurjotsachdeva. One of the things I have learned during my time on Wikipedia is that pretty much any question I have has already been answered. The trick is how to find that answer. The search function on Wikipedia is pretty good (not perfect, but pretty good). So my first approach to looking for an answer is to put the keywords from my question into the search box, but putting "WP:" first. So your question is - how to I create a page? So, if I put WP: how do I create a page, into the search box I get Wikipedia:How to create a page. If I put WP: creating a page, into the search box I get Help:Your first article. Both provide useful information with links to Wikipedia:Article wizard and Wikipedia:Articles for creation.

My suggestion for you is to edit a few existing articles before attempting to create your own article. You will learn a lot from doing that, and you will benefit the project. You will make mistakes, everyone does, and people will point them out to you (or simply revert your edits). Be patient. While anyone can edit Wikipedia, and it is fairly easy to do, it takes time to learn how to edit it successfully such that other editors respect your contributions and either leave them as they are, or build constructively on them.

I suggest you start by reading through some articles that interest you, and do some simple copy-editing (see Wikipedia:Basic copyediting), correcting spelling and grammar mistakes, and helping improve the flow of the language. You could find articles which need copyediting at Category:All articles needing copy edit. Once you have done that for a while, and feel comfortable, you can move on to adding sources (citing a reliable book or text, or linking to a reliable website - see Help:Referencing for beginners, and for more advanced information see Wikipedia:Citing sources). You can find a big list of articles that need sources added at Category:All articles with unsourced statements. Adding sources is important, and you would find it difficult to get an article accepted on Wikipedia these days without proper sourcing, so it's useful to learn how to do it.

That's plenty for you to read. You don't need to read it all at once; though it is useful to have the links so you can refer to the information now and again. If you are not sure you have the time to learn how to write an article, you could request one be written at Wikipedia:Requested articles.
