Working with other Wikipedians >> Civility & Etiquette

[edit]

Dear Sergeant,

Why won't you work with others to make things better?

Please review:

&

If you cannot work with other users and follow the rules, I will have to ask that your account be banned from editing and that Nick Bacon article be protected from anonymous IP and new account users, not allowing them to edit the article.

The reference cited ("Nick Bacon, MOH recipient, dies at 64") does not say "numerous other awards and decorations". It says: "...[Nick] received the Distinguished Service Cross, Legion of Merit, two Bronze Stars, and Purple Heart."

So, you can choose to stop being childish and work with others, and follow the rules, or you can go somewhere else.

Please choose a spirit of cooperation to make things better for all.

It is your call.

I have been nothing but nice and civil to you, and wanted to work with you to make the article better. My only goal was to improve the article and do it in a quality manner. But you:
  • 1) blanked your talk page
  • 2) refused to respond to my questions
  • 3) reverted my edits without discussing it
  • 4) will not attempt to fix your image copyrights (which will be deleted if you don't)
  • 5) use references for a citation that do not cite the material being reference.
If this isn't childish, please tell me what is and what you have been doing is called?
You spirit of cooperation with me has been non-existent and reminds me of a person in grade school. If I had treated you that way, what would you call it?
If you are related to Nick Bacon, then you probably are also violating WP:POV, WP:COI, and WP:OR. But, please add references for the material that you have added that are:
Also, please sign your comments left of talk pages.
Please enlighten me. THNKS. > Best O Fortuna (talk) 00:03, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I sincerly apologize for removing your edits. I am unsure of how I even did it as I am new to this.

I tried to add a comment to my talk page with the same results. Again, sorry.

I fixed the citations. I pasted the wrong ones.

I fixed the picture copyright information.

If I need to correct any of these issues futher I would greatly appreciate your guidance and input. You've already guided me well with the use of preview and other things. Thanks!

Images Copyrights

[edit]

For more information on copyrights for images, see:

Wikipedia:Image copyright tags
Help:Contents/Images and media
Help:Wikipedia: The Missing Manual/Formatting and Illustrating Articles/Adding Images

You can also paw through other image files to see how other users have licensed their images. The down fall of this is if they did it wrong. You can also search out an images copyright guru for help. Additionally, if another user leaves you a copyright notice, be proactive and go to that user and ask for their help. This goes a lot farther than just ignoring them and deleting their messages. Hope this helps. > Best O Fortuna (talk) 00:25, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

While Wikipedia at first was to house images, it was decided about two years ago that Wikimedia Commons house images instead. Notice that there is an "M" there, and not a "P". This is a different site to house images. It is highly preferable that you upload your images there, give them the appropriate license, and then link them from there to the articles on the other Wiki sites that you want that image to appear in. > Best O Fortuna (talk) 00:33, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I will work to move them over. I am pretty confident based off similar pics that I got the copyright information correct. Again, if you look at them and see something amiss I will absolutely correct it. Thanks again for all your help and tips. Maybe in the future I can avoid offending folks by listening to your advice.
