Disambiguation link notification for December 19
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sean Scully, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Carnegie Institute, Museum of Fine Art and Gregory Perry (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 08:55, 19 December 2019 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, MyNameIsMars. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Boardwalk Pictures, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here)(click me!) 23:34, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
- I was going to post the same thing - apologies if you're not in a conflict of interest situation, but a lot of your articles are related to this company and are well-written. Sometimes that just means an editor is interested in a topic and took the time to get their first articles right (and that's good!) ...but sometimes it instead means the editor is associated with the topic or is paid to edit (and that's bad). I've looked over your article, but would like to hear your response before I do anything else with it. creffett (talk) 23:59, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi creffett and Insertcleverphrasehere I do not have any conflicts of interest, and am not affiliated with or working for Boardwalk Pictures. That said, if there's anything in my edits that are inappropriate or aren't up to spec please change them. I spend some time on my drafts before I nestle into a niche and this isn't my first rodeo either, so I like to think that none of my edits are sloppy barring a few slip ups here and there. My best work is probably on Sean Scully. This is also isn't my first time being accused of being a paid editor, I used to edit film Wikipedia back in 2015 on an older account and was accused of working for a number of independent filmmakers and film studios. I'm not getting paid but someone has to add this stuff because people actually regularly consult Wikipedia for exactly this information, and it is surprisingly easy to turn it up in a Google search. I think I have only created two articles related to Boardwalk, the one for the company and the one for Fried (I added enough to that I think it's fair to say I basically made it). I apologize if I ruffled any feathers or made it seem like I was tapping my foot at you or saying "you missed a spot", please feel free to take your time.MyNameIsMars (talk) 19:26, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
- MyNameIsMars, We currently have almost 6000 unreviewed articles in the queue and it's about 3 months wait at maximum. Many articles get reviewed before that, but usually those are the simpler calls. What was your old account and why did you stop using it? (not accusing you of anything but just doing my homework). — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here)(click me!) 20:24, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
- I totally get the need to do your homework but like I said this was at least back in 2015, I don't have the account info and I basically just dropped off of Wikipedia for awhile. Real life has a way of getting in the way of my side projects, and I just didn't have the time (or the same desire) for Wikipedia any more. I dunno, I kind of have too much time now though. I get what a backlog you must have although I didn't it was 6,000 exactly. I guess I wont be too stressed if it takes someone awhile to get to Luàna Bajrami then >_> Seriously though, I am in no way trying to say anything about the job you do so there's no need to be offended. I also want to apologize for coming off as insulting or aggressive although I didn't do anything wrong in the first place MyNameIsMars (talk) 20:49, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
- For the record: your explanation is sufficient for me, thanks for clearing that up. creffett (talk) 22:29, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
- Oh, though one unrelated thing - please have a look at the rules on marking edits as minor; you've got a lot of edits marked as minor which probably shouldn't be. Just something to keep in mind for the future. creffett (talk) 22:30, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
- No problem, thanks for taking the time to get back to me, and sorry for any confusion I might have caused. Thanks for sharing that about marking edits as minor as well, I'm going to stop checking that box then unless it's just a typo/formatting error.MyNameIsMars (talk) 22:34, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
