U.S. 35 Map

[edit]

Thanks for the kudos. I have modified the map per your suggestion and I agree with you. Have a look. Stratosphere 05:13, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The map should stay in the infobox if you're going to use it on the U.S. Route 35 page. People can click it to make it larger, but all of the U.S. Route articles will have the map in the infobox. As far as other pages aside from the U.S. Route 35, feel free to use it however you please. Stratosphere 02:16, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I use GIS data which includes all the Major Roads in the country. I then run an extraction query on whatever route I want and use that data to make the red line. I do all of this in ArcMap, which is part of the ArcGIS 9 suite developed by ESRI. Website here. The software is pretty expensive ($1500 I think) but I have access to it at my University since I'm studying GIS there. Stratosphere 02:32, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Compare Fun Spot with Conneaut Lake Park. Both have the same number of adult rides (17; although Fun Spot actually has more roller coasters). True, Blue Streak (Conneaut Lake) is a roller coaster with considerable historical significance, but I think having the only looping roller coaster in the state of Indiana is also noteworthy. Fun Spot isn't the oldest operating park in Indiana, but it misses that distinction by only a couple of years (see www.rcdb.com). The fact that it has an attached zoo also makes it noteworthy. As for the redirect from Fun Spot, I do see your point. I just put it in because I felt it was the only notable location with Fun Spot in the title. Most everything else in the google results was little more than a mini-golf or go-kart place. Best, Irongargoyle 13:29, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for filling me in. Knowing Fun Spot, I just can't see that it qualifies for an encyclopedia article, but I'll take your word for it. I am going to remove mention of Fun Spot from the lead paragraph in Angola, Indiana article since it's not in Angola, and few would think that Fun Spot would top a "known for" or "home of" list. Some IN State Road shields for deletion

[edit]

I have uploaded SVG shields that have superseded your shields. The discussion on IFD is here. Feel free to comment if you don't want them to be deleted. V60 VTalk - VDemolitions 02:55, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Helen Brenneman, Goshen Indiana

[edit]

Hello, Mr. Harman! Saw you undid my notes vis. Helen Good Brenneman on the Goshen Indiana page. Just thought I'd mention that after I'd added that, I found two different people linking to that mention of her on the web. She wasn't perhaps known widely outside the Mennonite Community, but she was quite famous within that subgroup, and her books have had some serious print longevity. Anyway; I'm not a contributor to wikipedia usually, and don't know what I may have done wrong re: authorial style, but since her most widely selling book has been in print and selling for more than 40 years, I'd think she'd be someone Goshen could call a long-term resident of note.

Dear MrHarman:

I am preparing a manuscript for a business textbook entitled Industrial Firefighting for Municipal Firefighters, to be published by PennWell Publishing Company in 2007.

May I please have your permission to use the material described below in our book, and in any future editions, revisions, or derivative works thereof?

Material to be used:

Your picture of grain elevators, "The Tallest Buildings in Edon, Ohio", which can be found at http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Image:Elevators%2C_Edon%2C_Ohio.jpg

A sourceline will appear below the artwork attributing it to you. We will need your name and the year the picture was produced for proper attribution. This will read “Courtesy of 'your name', 2006”, unless you prefer a different wording for attribution.

We would very much appreciate your response and permission at your earliest convenience. You may email me at Brade@pennwell.com. This book is moving into production this month, so your timely response would be most appreciated. Thank you for your help.

Ernsberger House? Orland, Indiana

[edit]

Where did you get the info you cite? Who is Ernsberger? The photo is of the Parker House. It was owned by John G. Parker and his wife Elmira J. Parker (daughter of Michigan Governor Cyrus Gray Luce). I have photos of the house from the late 1800's, with the Parker family in the yard. I visited Orland last year, and it is still known as the Parker House.

Thank you for your input. I may have mis-identified the house, based on materials I referred to at the Steuben County Library. I will research. Thanks, MrHarman 13:30, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have re-uploaded this under the proper name and fixed the Orland, Indiana page. Thanks, MrHarman 03:49, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I have checked my sources again, and yes it is also known as the Ernsberger House, formerly a stop on the Underground Railroad. See this web page. Mr. Harman (talk) 13:28, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the free pictures on the Al Suomi page!

Cheers, CP 00:24, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome! Glad to do it. MrHarman (talk) 00:46, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry for the confusion with the gallery; in case it wasn't clear, I had misremembered what the image galleries policy said. Nyttend (talk) 21:53, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That's very nice of you to leave a message. No problem at all!

A barnstar for you!

[edit]
The Original Barnstar
I thank you for contributing your pictures of Resurrection Cemetary and the Willowbrook Ballroom. I would like to use these photos in a PowerPoint program I am developing for presentation at Chicagoland libraries. The name of the program is The Ghosts of Route 66 (Archer Avenue was often used as an alternate route for 66 during construction season). Please let me know if this is okay and how you would like the photos credited in the presentation. You can learn more about what I do at my website, windycityroadwarrior.com and you can email me at dave@windycityroadwarrior.com I look forward to hearing from you! Olympia66 (talk) 14:52, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You may certainly use these photos -- indeed, any of my photos -- if they are useful to you. You can credit them to Mr Harman or Hugh Harman. I'm glad they are of use, and good luck with your presentation. Thanks, Mr. Harman (talk) 22:07, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

MOORISH SCIENCE TEMPLE OF AMERICA.

[edit]

Greetings

I have recently seen your response on why the article could not be edited on my behalf. The truth of the matter is, mines is the only public book out on the Prophet Noble Drew Ali and the Moorish Science Temple of America bearing an ISBN and in the public domain. It is one of the reasons that I wrote the book.

I believe it to be in part, a lack of reason, to let non sourced information stand, and let actual sourced information be allowed. For instance, it says in the opening section:

"A primary tenet was the belief that there was a Negroid-looking population of aboriginal paleo-Americans that existed prior to the transatlantic slave trade that was subsequently confused with African people. Although often criticised as lacking scientific merit, adherents of the Moorish Science Temple of America believe that the Negroid Asiatic was the first human inhabitant of the Western Hemisphere. In their religious texts, adherents refer to themselves as "Asiatics".[1] These adherents also call themselves "indigenous Moors", "American Moors" or "Moorish Americans" in contradistinction to "African Moors" or "African Americans"."

There are several things wrong with this section.

1) A primary tenet was the belief that there was a Negroid-looking population of aboriginal paleo-Americans that existed prior to the transatlantic slave trade that was subsequently confused with African people.

Explanation: First and foremost, this cannot be found anywhere in the teachings of the Moorish Science Temple of America as given by Noble Drew Ali. I can personally email you the information that I have, which is the actual documents that have been unchanged since 1927-1928 when they were released. Also, there is absolutely no source for this information and if I edited it, just to change that fact, wiki will remove my edit and ask me for a source, when there is no source given for this particular point and that is completely unfair.

2) Although often criticised as lacking scientific merit, adherents of the Moorish Science Temple of America believe that the Negroid Asiatic was the first human inhabitant of the Western Hemisphere.

Explanation: Again, this completely lacks any merit and it was allowed to be posted without asking whomever placed it there for its source. This is not taught in the Moorish Science Temple of America whatsoever.

3) These adherents also call themselves "indigenous Moors", "American Moors" or "Moorish Americans" in contradistinction to "African Moors" or "African Americans"."

Explanation: This is completely and utterly frivolous as the doctrine of the Moorish Science Temple of America makes no distinction between Moors. Completely erroneous.

There are so many falsified accounts within the article and it is very unfair that the public is allowed to see such a false representation of the truth. I have no problem editing the article in 3rd person. I even set up an alternate account and re-edited the article and still did not remain. You said that you would like to work with me well if there is anything that I can get to you from my end, so that we can have a 3rd party review my book, which is approved by the members of the Moorish Science Temple of America, then please let me know because this article is very misleading.

Thank you in advance. Peace Sheik Way-El — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sheik Way-El (talkcontribs) 04:34, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

MrHarman—I am starting a Wikipedia article on Lake James (the Indiana Lake James). ETA is probably in 4 or 5 months. I plan to use your excellent photo of the Potawatomi Inn. I have moved out of the area, and all of my photos of the lake have mostly family members in them instead of views of the lake. If you have more photos of Lake James, please post them in Wikimedia—I will use them. Without photos, it is hard to describe a natural lake big enough to have three basins, a cottage on an island, a state park, and (long ago) multiple marinas. Pic - Resurrection Cemetery gates

[edit]

MrHarman.

I'm a UK writer, and would like to use your photograph of the entrance to Resurrection Cemetery in a book on road phantoms, which naturally will include 'Mary'. In addition to your permission (if granted), some guidance would be appreciated regarding the required attribution for a print book (beyond the standard name credit), which will have more limited scope for captioning than a web platform. How would you prefer this to appear? Thank you. SCT01 (talk) 21:04, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
