Speedy deletion of Pix.ie

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Pix.ie, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Clubmarx (talk) 03:34, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your best bet is to create an article in your usespace, say User:Jaqian/Pix.ie, then move it to the mainspace once it's likely to survive a deletion request. Be sure to familiarise yourself with the general inclusion criterion and the web content inclusion criterion, and be sure to cite sources so others can verify. If you have questions, ask. WilyD 12:27, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks WilyD, I'll give that a shot.Jaqian (talk) 12:44, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File:CCTV Smile.jpg listed for deletion

[edit]

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, File:CCTV Smile.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Soundvisions1 (talk) 19:19, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jaqian, I am a German user und very busy in Irish topics (you can have a look here). Today, I tried to install two of your images for this new article. It didn't work - do you know WHY ? Best wishes, --Qaswa (talk) 20:41, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Qaswa, I think the problem is that you have "spaces" instead of "underlines" ( underline is this symbol _ ) e.g. these are the actual file names on Wikipedia: "An_Oige_Hostel_Symbol.jpg" and "An_Oige_Hostel_HQ_Dublin.JPG". I tried editing your article to correct this but wouldn't allow me. As I don't sprecken ze deutsch as they say I do not know why. Hope that was of some help. From what I could make out it looks to be a good article, any chance you could translate it and add it to the English An Óige article?
Btw does the fact that I replied to you question here come up as a "New Message" for you when you log in or should I have replied on your talk page?
Thanks Rob aka Jaqian (talk) 11:12, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much for your help, Rob. It didn't came up as a "New Message" for me (therefor it would be necessary to write on *my* talk page), but it's ok to answer here - I was looking for your account. You *could* edit my article in the German WP - but is wasn't working for the problem. First I tried the files in their original version, with underlines, but with or without: the file is not accepted. Mostly I can copy images or files for my articles, if there is a free licence, but for An Óige or for the image of the castle in Enniscorthy or for the image from Dalkey Island it wasn't possible, too. And I don't understand, why. Ok, I think, I have to remove the files from An Óige. -
For your question: may be, some time, I will translate my German An Óige into English; but I am very much better in translating from English --> German: there is no problem for me. The other way is rather hard for me - you see, I am thinking and writing here like a German and not like an English- or Irishman .... And there are so many Irish topics which are missing in the German WP. Later on, when I am living in Ireland (I am hoping for that), I'll try to edit in English (nearly only, ok). In the German WP I have done more than 22.000 edits within 28 months - that's a lot, and perhaps enough... Thanks again and a good time for you. I would like to be in Ireland now... Thomas aka ThoR from Berlin. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Qaswa (talkcontribs) 20:58, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I forgot to sign my answer! It's really from me, --Qaswa (talk) 21:10, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's a good point. He's back in Dublin now so I don't see him much. I've got an idea that he's working on the photos tho. Please feel free to add to the article. Wwwhatsup (talk) 22:43, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New image project

[edit]

Hi. This little form letter is just a courtesy notice to let you know that a proposal to merge the projects Wikipedia:WikiProject Free images, Wikipedia:WikiProject Fair use, Wikipedia:WikiProject Moving free images to Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia:WikiProject Illustration into the newly formed Wikipedia:WikiProject Images and Media has met with general support at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Files. Since you're on the rosters of membership in at least one of those projects, I thought you might be interested. Conversation about redirecting those projects is located here. Please participate in that discussion if you have any interest, and if you still have interest in achieving the goals of the original project, we'd love to have you join in. If you aren't interested in either the conversation or the project, please pardon the interruption. :) Thanks. Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:45, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:HALIFAX Sign X.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:HALIFAX Sign X.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Finavon (talk) 11:55, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NowCommons: File:Hawkeye brownie.JPG

[edit]

File:Hawkeye brownie.JPG is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Hawkeye brownie.JPG. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Hawkeye brownie.JPG]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 19:39, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated List of camera clubs in Ireland, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of camera clubs in Ireland. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Donnie Park (talk) 20:33, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:AIB Allied Irish Bank Crest Symbol.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:AIB Allied Irish Bank Crest Symbol.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. File source problem with File:Innocent drinks company.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Innocent drinks company.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 21:37, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of automated file description generation

[edit]

Your upload of File:Abrakebabra.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Hi, at Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge we're striving to bring about 10,000 article improvements and creations for the UK and Ireland and inspire others to create more content. In order to achieve this we need diversity of content, in all parts of the UK and Ireland on all topics. Eventually a regional contest will be held for all parts of the British Isles, like they were for Wales and the Wedt Country. We currently have just over 1900 articles and need contributors! If you think you'd be interested in collaborating on this and helping reach the target quicker, please sign up and begin listing your entries there as soon as possible! Thanks.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:41, 28 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
