"The Acolyte (upcoming TV series)" listed at Redirects for discussion
[edit]
The redirect The Acolyte (upcoming TV series) has been listed at redirects for discussion to determine whether its use and function meets the redirect guidelines. Anyone, including you, is welcome to comment on this redirect at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2024 July 27 § The Acolyte (upcoming TV series) until a consensus is reached. Marvel zombies
[edit]Apologies for the misunderstanding on my previous edit, I wanted to state that I added “loosely” as the comics and the episode diverge in major ways. But it has been brought to my attention that I require a good source for my statement. Do you know any good sources for comics allowed on Wikipedia? Firekong1 (talk) 19:24, 28 July 2024 (UTC)
Star Wars: Tales
[edit]Hello again. I hope that my comments on Talk:Tales of the Jedi (TV series) do not come across negative or rude. Apologies if that is the case. I can completely understand your perspective and I appreciate your responses. I do not want to come across as disruptive or repetitive or taking up too much space or anything like that in the discussion. I always appreciate discussions on Wikipedia, and I think it is a great platform for people to work together. I just wanted to clarify that and also say that I really enjoy your work on here in general. Aoba47 (talk) 19:06, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
- I didn't feel that at all, and I hope I didn't present my response that I did. Appreciate you chiming in on the discussion because there weren't many voices so having more is always helpful. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 19:12, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for the response. I did not feel that from your comments either. I just wanted to make sure. I was probably just over-thinking things. I am glad that I could participate in the discussion and hopefully help with it. Aoba47 (talk) 02:53, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
So-called "consensus"
[edit]Will you actually link this "consensus" that you are talking about? ภץאคгöร 20:53, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- It is WP:IMPLICIT. Look at any MCU film article. None have aggregator prose templates. Editors upon release of a new film always add it because they probably see it used elsewhere, but that doesn't mean it should be used. Templates shouldn't lock article text behind them that can't be edited. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 20:57, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- This is disputed and reverted though. That's why you don't come to your own conclusions or write unreasonable/inconsistent edit summaries. If there was a consensus that templates were "locking" the texts, they wouldn't be created in the first place. Tomatometer is not an "approval rating", and the template at least sets an example for correct usage and better understanding. What is written in any other article does not determine the content of any other article. (PS. You really should avoid contradicting yourself. Your thinking is that we shouldn't use templates because other MCU articles don't use them [probably because a couple of editors including you remove them for such "reasons"] but also write that
"Editors upon release of a new film always add it because they probably see it used elsewhere, but that doesn't mean it should be used."
This means we should also not follow other MCU articles because"that doesn't mean it shouldn't be used"
.) ภץאคгöร 21:19, 30 July 2024 (UTC)- In their current states as of this edit, no MCU film article uses any aggregate prose template. So the use of it on DP&W goes against that. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 21:27, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- I already wrote why this opinion is invalid. Have you read my comments or will you repeat it again? ภץאคгöร 21:37, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- There is no requirement for articles to use this prose template, and it has been frowned upon for its use in these MCU articles. There is nothing gained by it and nothing lost without it. It is rather easier to just write up the text ourselves and to avoid needles verbiage from the prose template. This is a standard consensus for the MCU articles, so please don't revert back to it as the temp is unnecessary. Trailblazer101 (talk) 23:02, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- Where is this "consensus" you keep talking about? There's nothing gained by copy-pasting the same thing literally over and over again too, just like what a template like this does. It is not different. "Needless verbiage"? "Approval rating" is needless verbiage. ภץאคгöร 07:18, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- The consensus is WP:IMPLICIT as previously stated. Not every single thing needs to have a previous discussion; most consensus is just formed through continual editing and establishing it with no dispute. This is one of those instances where there the non-template use works just as well, so there is no issue. Adding it to DP&W goes against that. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:46, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- This looks like an automated bot response again. As I've mentioned above, the issue is disputed and reverted, and I already removed the incorrect "approval rating" text that you insistently copy and paste like this template. Choose one thing to be consistent. If you don't want to use the template, you shouldn't copy and paste the same sentence in every MCU article, because then it's no different than using the template. ภץאคгöร 18:08, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- That text is featured on WP:AGG, I see no issue with it. If that wording needs to be updated to alter or remove parts of what's listed there, that a larger discussion for not my talk, nor its use on Deadpool & Wolverine. My main concern is the text and reference not being editable behind the template. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:16, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- AGG may be showing an outdated, inaccurate and nonrequired example, but that doesn't mean you should copy and paste the same sentence for every article. Then it's kind of like using the template while trying to enforce specific wording (i.e.
locking
). ภץאคгöร 20:56, 31 July 2024 (UTC)- It's not the same, because the template wording cannot be changed on a page-by-page basis. - adamstom97 (talk) 21:09, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hmm, your first clue. Doesn't change anything and still is similar to the template usage. Should let it go. ภץאคгöร 21:19, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Nyxaros: Look, if you doubt that there is actually a consensus on the point under dispute, why not just initiate an RfC? BD2412 T 21:47, 31 July 2024 (UTC)

Hello again. Could you please rename this to "File:Hawkeye (TV series logo).jpg"? Thanks again in advance! Trailblazer101 (talk) 18:24, 31 July 2024 (UTC)

- Oh, my bad. I checked the above file rename and a redirect was left for that one so I did the same. - adamstom97 (talk) 09:51, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
- I actually can't move files myself regardless, and I don't mind if a redirect is left or not. Trailblazer101 (talk) 14:41, 12 August 2024 (UTC)

Feature news
- AbuseFilter editors and maintainers can now make a CAPTCHA show if a filter matches an edit. This allows communities to quickly respond to spamming by automated bots. [1]
- Stewards can now specify if global blocks should prevent account creation. Before this change by the Trust and Safety Product Team, all global blocks would prevent account creation. This will allow stewards to reduce the unintended side-effects of global blocks on IP addresses.
Project updates
- Nominations are open on Wikitech for new members to refresh the Toolforge standards committee. The committee oversees the Toolforge Right to fork policy and Abandoned tool policy among other duties. Nominations will remain open until at least 2024-08-26.
