Greetings

[edit]

Greetings Dornsby – sorry for having taken the wind out of your sails. I went into overdrive to get your article safe before it got deleted because I thought it was well worth being included here. As it stood it didn’t have a chance of surviving. And to be frank, it ain’t even safe now. There’ll be some busy–body editor along one day to say it should be merged into such–and–such article. As you’ve been in on the process from the start, you now have a pretty clear idea of what needs to be done for future articles. Happy editing! --Technopat (talk) 22:50, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings Dornsby – Thanks for your message on my talk page. The guidelines above might seem a lot, but you’ll get the hang of it. Let me know if you think there’s anything I can help out with. Cheers!--Technopat (talk) 20:42, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pics

[edit]

Greetings again Dornsby – thanks for your message on my talk page. ‘Fraid that I can’t help you with the graphics – it’s my one weak spot! But try Wikipedia:Upload and if you can’t make any sense out of that, try Wikipedia:New contributors' help page. Let me know if there’s anything non–graphical that you think I can help out with. Cheers! --Technopat (talk) 21:00, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Fish room of Ross Leopard.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Image Screening Bot (talk) 18:14, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Tiger flying ensign 2 20.10.10.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Tiger flying ensign 2 20.10.10.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 18:05, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ross Tiger

[edit]

Hi, I noticed you'd been editing the Ross Tiger article recently. Would you please review WP:NPOV as I think that some of your editing may fall foul of this.

Examples
  1. "Foo is a memorial to the tragically neglected history of the port of Bar". = POV
  2. Joe Bloggs, writing for the Daily Blurb, stated that "Foo was a memorial to the tragically neglected history of the port of Bar". = NPOV

Do you see the difference? If presenting something that is a point of view, the you need to state whose point of view it is. If there is a counter point of view, then that should also be presented in a similar way, leading the reader to decide which POV they prefer.

Also, WP:MOSSHIP states that ship names should always be in italics. Mjroots (talk) 22:47, 18 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Dornsby. I'm not familiar with the way Wiki works so I thought I'd try this way to let you know a few more facts about Ross Tiger and correct a small error in the page: The Ross Tiger was launched on 6 September 1956 (by Mrs Joyce Wilson, my Grandmother and wife of the Managing Director of Ross Fisheries at the time) - not laid down in 1957. She cost £134,900, is 124' 6" length and 26' 6" breadth, drawing 13' 0" Hope this is useful, thanks for your work on this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.107.101.188 (talk) 04:16, 16 March 2012 (UTC) Hello, I'm sorry I don't have any means of properly replying to you! Thankyou for your post regarding the Ross Tiger's page. If you were to get in touch with the Fishing Heritage Centre in Grimsby it would be brilliant to learn more from you regarding her launch. Although her original builders plate states 1957 I've always been aware that she really belongs to '56, with much of her original equipment and motors having that year on their brass plates, and into service early the following year. Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to Fish and chips, but we cannot accept original research. Original research also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. Logical Cowboy (talk) 20:01, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
