CampbellTrain
[edit]From Campbelltrain, The Wikipedia User
Justin Scott Campbell (b. June 22 1991), is a native of Ottawa, Canada. He grew up in Nepean and attended school there. Recently he graduated from Merivale High School and intends to go to Algonquin College for their writing program. He is active on YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr and edits on Wikipedia now and then. He also runs a blog called The Ottawan.
The name "CampbellTrain" comes from a former teacher of his in high school, who simply added 'train' to his last name. As such it has proven a useful screen name for Justin on the Internet, and according to him he also likes to attribute the name as a spin-off of the name "Nutty Train," which was a signature walk performed by the British ska band Madness, his favorite music group. Other names given to him are 'Campbell,' 'Juice,' and 'Dustbin.'
Early Life
[edit]Little is known about Campbell's early life. He was born on June 22, 1991 in Ottawa and grew up in Nepean, attending Century Public School, Sir Winston Churchill Public School, and Merivale High School. It is known that he was born with a mild form of autism known as Asperger's disorder and subsquently had a hard time socializing with his peers as he grew up. He spent a lot of time writing and drawing when not with friends. While he was a very well built person who excelled at physical activity, Justin was never interested in sports.
Writing
[edit]Campbell grew up writing the beginning of novels he had ideas for but never finishing them, either forgetting about them or not knowing how to end them, or being discouraged. He wrote two finished novels, My Ordinary Life in Vancouver and The Bombs: and the City when he was both nine and twelve respectively, and always loved to read. He had other hobbies but writing was his biggest. Throughout High School he would write fictional stories on each person and teacher in each of his classes condensed into two or more sentences. He called this Nonsensical Sentences. Currently, he is working on a novel called The Nice Guy, of which he hopes to finish and get it properly published.
The Barrhaven Independent
[edit]While he was in High school Justin started a co-op placement with the Barrhaven Independent, writing articles based on events taking place at the school. The placement combined his interestes of writing and photography, and he proved to be an excellent reporter (as marked by his publisher). However, journalism did not suit him, as while it was very flexible, he did not like having a set due date for his two submissions every week and found that he would be writing his articles mere hours before it was due. It was also very fast-paced and required a lot of energy for him to be everywhere, so he opted for a different writing path altogether by the end of the placement.
Wikipedia
[edit]Justin first started editing on Wikipedia when he saw a redundant article on the movie Ernest Goes to School. He also felt he needed to improve other articles, such as the article on his alma mater, Merivale High School, and improve the amount of information over the amount of bias he found in it. One thing he makes sure of is that information in wikipedia articles are simple unbiased promoters of factual information.
Personal Life
[edit]Justin has various hobbies and interests, the major ones being writing, photography, and media such as video production or video editing. He continues to live in Ottawa and intends on entering writing in Algonquin College. He originally thought of also doing photography but realized that he would rather do that as a hobby and not as a profession or career. His favorite music is ska, pop and reggae, his favorite band Madness, and he enjoys watching The Office (US) as well as Two and a half Men and Arrested Development.
His writing influences are Dean Koontz and Gordon Korman, who are also his favorite authors, and he plays drums and bass guitar.
