History
York High School was constructed in 1954 as the public school for grades six through 12 for the white children of the area, while the York County Training School in the Grafton area of York County would be used by black students. [2] The school has been under renovation since the summer of 2005, and has recently returned to the school building. The trailers on the school's front lawn that housed classes during the renovation period are now used to house the classes of York Middle School while the Middle school building is being renovated, with renovations ending January 2008.
Accreditation
York High is fully accredited by the Virginia Department of Education[3] and has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools since 1966. [4]
