Signups open for The Core Contest
[edit]The Core Contest—Wikipedia's most exciting contest—will take place this year from April 15 to May 31. The goal: to improve vital or other core articles, with a focus on those in the worst state of disrepair. Editing can be done individually, but in the past groups have also successfully competed. There is £300 of prize money divided among editors who provide the "best additive encyclopedic value". Signups are open now. Cheers from the judges, Femke, Casliber, Aza24.
If you wish to start or stop receiving news about The Core Contest, please add or remove yourself from the delivery list.

Rm'd (spam?) vital tag from Talk:Huygens–Fresnel_principle
[edit]I have removed a level-5 vital tag in this edit, which was just dangling freely on a comment. I could not find any archives on its rating. Tule-hog (talk) 22:27, 25 July 2024 (UTC)

potential GA drive
[edit]I suggested this before but I think it would be possible to create a GA drive for the book article similar to the earlier failed one for land. It's specific enough that it wouldn't be as massive of an undertaking as most other level-3 articles. It's still in a state of disrepair but I think it has a much better structure than it used to. Significant people timeline
[edit]My idea is to make a time of the most significant people. I listed my arguments and details in this section, and I was sent to this wikiproject.
Wikipedia:Village pump (idea lab)#Timeline of significant figures
Does it sound like a good idea? If so, should people be included based off on how significant, famous, or both they are/were?

Updated: vital level 3 people timeline
[edit]It's simple: a timeline of every person listed as vital level 3. This will help users see when every person was alive.
Note that each color represents their era, by either two categories: either the name of the era if they were western (e.g. Baroque), or their time period if they're not western.
Should we incorporate this? You can view the timeline here: User:Wikieditor662/Vital sandbox. Please note that the timeline I worked on may not be perfect and you're all welcome to make or request any reasonable changes you'd like before publishing it.
