Process changes?

Hi there, I'm not a regular member of this project. After requesting a reassessment last month though and rating some other pages, I had a couple thoughts.

First, the project page is growing pretty large (over 300 kB now), especially with the assessment request list. Is there any interest in moving that to its own page? And whether the list is moved or not, is there a plan to start archiving old requests?

Second, have you considered a "pay it forward" rule when making requests, to limit your backlog? For example, anyone can make 1 request per month, but for each additional one, they also need to review 1 (or more) open requests from the list? I just noticed because it seems like a few editors are handling almost all the reviews. -- Zar2gar1 (talk) 18:28, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Zar2gar1 - I concur, especially with "First" above. Today, I added a "Subpages" section with lines for "Assessment request archives" (to be done); and "Popular pages" link - already available, just needed a link. Regards, JoeNMLC (talk) 15:46, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Being bold, I created and loaded article assessment requests for 2022 and 2023 archives. With the current 2024 backlog, it may be awhile to add 2024 yet. Cheers, JoeNMLC (talk) 16:41, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Very nice! Hopefully that will make the page a little easier to navigate and load going further.

Obviously, it would be something for regular participants here to hash out, but I would still recommend considering a way to "rate limit" requests at some point. If things balance out and the backlog levels off, it's probably not necessary; if it keeps growing though and the project doesn't have a way to handle it, I'd guess you'll see declining interest by both requesters and reviewers.

And if you all do eventually do decide on limits, the "pay it forward" rule has several advantages: it's simple, it's fair, it's positive ("here's how you can qualify for even more" instead of "no, you can't do that"), and it incentivizes reviewing. -- Zar2gar1 (talk) 17:41, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
