    New York

    [edit]

In editing Kenneth Chesebro, I made a link to New York, not realizing it was a dab page. The bot came along and disambiguated it, but incorrectly, by linking to New York City instead of to New York (state).

I've now corrected the link. I write to call the Project's attention to a possibly recurring problem. With something like "New York", it's probably impossible for a bot to figure out whether the editor meant the city or the state. JamesMLane t c 14:29, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Cnwilliams is not a bot. They're a human using semi-automated tools and, like all humans including myself, sometimes make mistakes. * Pppery * it has begun... 16:03, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes my mistake. I should have realised it was the State and not the City, but I had just corrected a few others that were definitely the City and the tool I use does suggest the same change as the previous one made. Cnwilliams (talk) 16:06, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explanation! I see you're from the UK -- I don't know how many Americans, let alone foreigners, understand that attorney licensing in the U.S. is by state governments (not federal and not municipality). JamesMLane t c 18:33, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    [edit]

Several dab links in Template:Empires were fixed a few days ago, by User:The Banner, and I have been waiting for the articles on which it is trascluded to be removed from Articles With Multiple Dablinks but it doesn't seem to be happening. Could someone (perhaps good with AWB) run some null edits on those listed at Pages that link to "Template:Empires"Rod talk 20:22, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just a heads up that I've created redlink as a redirect to a disambiguation page (since someone else created redlinks and I figured the singular was at least as plausible as the plural). I think I've flushed out any templates assuming that page doesn't exist, but if some do somewhere they will likely show up here. * Pppery * it has begun... 21:15, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    [edit]

Could someone take a look at Template:Mosques in Georgia (country). When you try to edit or view it takes you to Template:Mosques in Denmark so I don't know how to correct the dab link which should go to List of mosques in Georgia (country).— Rod talk 09:25, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Rodw: This isn't a WT:DPL matter. The problem is that this edit by Rangasyd (talk · contribs) altered |name=Mosques in Georgia (country) to |name=Mosques in Denmark. All that was necessary was to alter it back to |name=Mosques in Georgia (country), but The Banner (talk · contribs) made it sort-of-worse in this edit - Template:Mosques in Georgia isn't the name of the template, it doesn't even exist. Anyway, if ignored, it would show up tomorrow on Wikipedia:Database reports/Invalid Navbar links, so I've fixed it early. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 23:16, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
