Nike Zeus was the first in a string of efforts by the US Army to develop an ABM system. Arguments against its deployment continue to this day as the main arguments against follow-on projects as well, Its failure to convince the DoD to deploy it would be mirrored by the subsequent failures of Nike-X, Safeguard, Sentinel, etc. Plus there's a bunch of great images of rockets going WHOOOSH!
