WikiProject Los Angeles
This is the newly created forum for discussion relating to WikiProject Los Angeles where people can express their opinion about the topic or topics advertised on the project page. This isn't a place where people are right or wrong and there are'nt "winners and losers", but lively debate is welcomed.

Topic 1 - Limiting the scope of the project:

[edit]

The topic is "Where do we limit the project relating to articles about Los Angeles and related topics?"

IMHO, anything that has a strong relationship to Los Angeles is fine. I just thought that Newport Beach, Knott's Berry Farm, Downtown Disney (California), Ontario Mills, South Coast Plaza, and others, which are not in Los Angeles County, should not be part of this Wikiproject. Sure, people from Los Angeles go to these places, probably a lot. However, that fact, in and of itself, does not make them related to Los Angeles.

I did add Manzanar and other Owens Valley-related articles because of their direct and important relationships to Los Angeles, even though they are obviously not located in LA County or even in Southern California.

I just think we need to think hard about whether an article for something that is not in LA County should be included in this Wikiproject. -- Gmatsuda (talk) 21:53, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BTW: What's wrong with discussing this on the project's talk page? Seems more appropriate there. -- Gmatsuda (talk) 21:55, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think you've got a point there. But on your second point, i think this is more appropriate venue because it is a place that is specific to discussions, the talk page is generally a place where people bicker about other peoples edits and so-on, (IMHO) lol, Taifarious1 05:45, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is a nice-looking page, but all discussion of the project itself should be confined to the project's talk page. Also, I wonder if Taifarious1 could reduce the size of his signature; it looks very threatening to me. That bouncing globe in the upper left also is very off-putting. I also think that it should be on the talk page, as that is the standard on Wikipedia. -- Gmatsuda (talk) 08:32, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
