• Maybe I'm being over-cynical, but this really doesn't seem very convincing: perhaps it's the low camera angle (to hide what, exactly?), or something to do with the facial expressions, it just looks staged, somehow. Print quality isn't at all good, either. Maybe others will disagree. --mikaul^talk 23:12, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
  • They were probably all keeping their heads down for fear of enemy fire. The official caption says it was taken eight minutes after landing, unlike the more famous Iwo Jima flag raising. Durova^Charge! 23:15, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
• If this gets nominated, I suspect the vote will be very close; there really isn't any information in most of the frame, and what there is (other than the faces and the flag) is very much out of focus.
