Fair use rationale is not justified. Elazeez gave as rationale "Exercising Freedom of Speech". Wikipedia is not a forum for unrestricted free speech. The image is a screenshot of a newspaper article, and seems to be inserted just to emphasise the content of that article, which would not meet fair use. Keep - In point of fact, the image is being used to illustrate the issue in question (i.e. reaction to the publication of The Satanic Verses) in appropriate articles (Salman Rushdie and The Satanic Verses controversy). Keep - Agreed that rationale 'Exercising Freedom of Speech' doesn't seem quite apt, but yes, it is in fact only fit to retain the image on wikipedia so as to bring out another point in the controversy surrounding the Satanic Verses which also engulfed its author Salman Rushdie. - As far as I'm aware, fair use would apply if a certain newspaper article was historically significant (eg Nous sommes tous Américains) to show what that newspaper article looked like, but not if it's just showing a non-notable example of a newspaper article. Dahl's may be a notable children's writer, but politically he's a fringe nutter who didn't play a significant role in the Rushdie affair. Andjam (talk) 12:59, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  - It's a well known fact that if there's a controversy around something, there are number of opinions voiced by different factions of the society; of these usually just an eminent handful make it into the daily media. The image here serves to bring forth some (more) critique of the much talked about book and its author. Besides, with the controversy surrounding the Rushdie and his book, most critique (by well-known members of the society—regardless of their being for/against it) should seem significant enough to mention here in accordance with Wikipedia's standards of neutrality.'Abd el 'Azeez (talk) 12:18, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
