  • Image is a clear diagram of the raft used by the protagonist in The Life of Pi. Unfortunately, the author assembled the diagram from selections of the book's 50th chapter, per his remarks on the image page, meaning that this image meets the criteria for original research. I don't know that it can be salvaged with such an blatant violation of that policy, but in the case that it can I will certainly withdraw this nomination. • I disagree. It would be a good candidate for the Commons in my opinion, but according to the very same policy : "Pictures have enjoyed a broad exception from this policy, in that Wikipedia editors are encouraged to take photographs or draw pictures or diagrams and upload them, releasing them under the GFDL or another free license, to illustrate articles. This is welcomed because images generally do not propose unpublished ideas or arguments, the core reason behind the NOR policy. "MarsInSVG (talk) 04:57, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I nominated this for deletion because I don't believe this picture falls within the exceptions in that policy. I don't think user interprations of a book's setting can be used in this article. It would be something like an editor inserting lines in the article that "the raft probably looked like this with the tiger like this and the tarp like this." Such a line would easily be recognized as OR and I believe this image is the same. Cumulus Clouds (talk) 19:29, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. The section about the teacher in the article was completely irrelevant and violated Wikipedia's WP:BLP policy. And because the image has no useful purpose on Wikipedia, it should be deleted. ~Matticus TC 11:11, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Unencyclopedic -- The image in question (a combination of rainbow and swastika) claims to be the flag of Niger, but this seems not to be true. (See [1] and Image:Flag of Niger.svg.) Wikipedia already has an image for the flag of Niger. The use of a swastika, without any other reason for it to be there, seems like a deliberate effort to offend. So I don't see how Wikipedia could ever use this image. (Also orphaned, copyright info is missing.) -- Why Not A Duck 19:53, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like it's already been deleted. -- Why Not A Duck 22:31, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
