- I've speedied the image as an attack. It is not fair to put Carnildo on the spot this way, forcing him to be the bad guy by authorizing the deletion. If he does think the image is acceptable and worthwhile, then he may undelete it. ×Meegs 06:30, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

- No worries, tjstrf, I know it wasn't your intent. Are we ok now that Carnildo has weighed-in? ×Meegs 08:21, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- I think the only times I hate orphanbot are the times when there are a bunch of files where the file name gives the source, but since it was never officially labeled it was tagged for deletion as sourceless anyway. Even then, it's still better than if Orphanbot didn't exist and the images were just deleted without warning. --tjstrf Now on editor review! 08:24, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

- It appears this image was originally tagged as fair use promo with rationle. It was tagged as replaceable fair use. It seems that the uploader tried to "fix" this by changing the license to a PD claim. I agree with deletion, but under the umbrella of replaceable fair use rather then an incorrect PD claim which could be corrected.--Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 23:38, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

- It is an image of me taken by a friend of mine for me. I have my friend's permission to use this photo however I see fit. It only requires permission so that not just anyone can take the photo and, let's say, use it for financial gain. Keep. ~Cookie~ 18:16, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- Delete. "Anyone can take the photo and use it for financial gain" is what we want. That's the GFDL. —Chowbok ☠ 20:22, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- I wasn't aware they Wikipedia was attempting to use their information for finacial gain, particularly people's person photos. I was under the impression it was at least a not for profit (if not non-profit) orginization.... ~Anna~ 05:21, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- It is. But we want everything to be reproduceable by others, even for profit. That's very important to us, and always has been. It mirrors the free-software movement in the computer world. - So if someone wanted to take my photo from this website and use it for, let's say a porn website, even though it's copywritten and one needs permission to use the photo since it was taken by a friend for my personal use and he copywrites his photos, they would be allowed to take said copywritten photo and use it without my or the photographers permission, which may then cause me grief like being tied up in a libel lawsuit. Wouldn't it be simpler to say "this is a photo of user xyz, you must have xyz's permission to use this photo. To use without permission is going against copywrite laws." I mean, the way it seems to me based on the explantions here there's no personal property allowed on Wikipedia. I would have to release all rights to this image in order to use it at the risk of people abusing it, that seems a bit extreme to me.
- The word is copyright, not copywrite (sorry just a pet peve). Anyway you don't have to give up all your rights to the image, just just have to allow everyone else to use the copy of it you uploaded to Wikipedia too (with or without permission). However if you release it under a license like GFDL (via the {{GFDL-self}} tag) there are some conditions that make legal "exploitation" of the image hard, such as providing a copy of (or link to) the the full text of the GFDL license and listing all (or up to 5 of) the "authors" of the image) and that any works based on it must also be released under the same license and so on. Though basicaly yeah, if you don't want something used by others outside of your controll then don't upload it to Wikipedia, because we require user contributions to be free content. --Sherool (talk) 10:28, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
