I am the uploader of these pictures, and I have realised that something like the Music of Carmen article is overlong and unencyclopaedic, especially with a link to the score from the Carmen page. These pictures were only used in that article. --Alexs letterbox 01:29, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I urge that these be kept until they can be reuploaded to the Commons. That the article doesn't belong on Wikipedia doesn't mean that useful images shouldn't be kept for other projects, such as Wikisource; given that they're free (not fair use), there's no reason we can't keep them on Wikipedia until someone wants to reupload them to Commons, at which point these can be deleted as redundant. —Simetrical (talk • contribs) 19:20, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am the uploader of this image. When I uploaded it and added it to the Wikipedia article entitled "Peace Corps", I believed it to be in the public domain because it was a U.S. Government image. I have since learned that, although it is not subject to copyright, it is restricted by statute. I emailed the Peace Corps Press Office for permission to use the logo exclusively in the Peace Corps article, but I was told that "(t)here is no verbiage that will satisfy the posting of the logo to a public

Web site as this is a statutory matter." I contacted the Press Office by phone and spoke with Mr. Nathan Arnold, the officer who signed the email. He explained that he had run this by the agency's lawyers and that they said that while the logo is available for almost any non-commercial use that promotes Peace Corps, posting it to a web site is off limits. The copyright notice at www.vpn.no said "if you use material from vpn, cite us as the source". I e-mailed vpn.no and asked if this applies to images as well, and if this really means any purpose. They did not reply, but I was notified by user:Denniss today that their copyright notice now says "unless otherwise stated, all images we use are © Digitalsport AS" ([1], in Norwegian). There might be other images from vpn.no used in en.wikipedia as well, these were the images I could find looking in the obvious articles (vpn.no is a fan-site for a soccer team, I searched the articles about the players of this team). kjetil_r 23:18, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
