Project GClef Welcome to the Irish music WikiProject! WikiProject Irish music is a project, founded by NaLaochra on 13 September 2006, intended to improve articles related to Irish music, as well as to create missing articles on this topic. In June 2009 due to lack of commitment, activity was temporarily transferred to a task force of WikiProject Ireland. The project was relaunched two months later, and new members are needed more than ever. Feel free to add your name to the member list below. If you feel that you can make a positive contribution to the project, become a member by joining the list of members. If you don't know what to write or where to begin, or if you have doubts or ideas on how to improve an article, please address the project's discussion forum. Goals The goals of this WikiProject are: Improve Wikipedia's coverage of Irish music—from traditional to folk, from rock to electronic and everything in between—, as well as the bands and musicians who perform it. Clean up existing articles to a suitable standard until ultimately these arrive at featured article status. Fill any missing gaps by creating articles and nominating a fact from them for inclusion on the Main Page if possible. Watch articles which may be exposed to a significant amount of vandalism at a certain time due, for example, to high levels of publicity. Create guidelines for consistency within articles about Irish music. Relatives The father of this WikiProject is WikiProject Music and its mother is WikiProject Ireland. Its sibling WikiProjects are scattered across the world and include: WikiProject Australian music, WikiProject Canadian music and WikiProject Eurovision. It also has an estranged son, WikiProject U2, which spends much of its time abroad, not dependent on its parent. Night of the Big Wind Living on top of the Willie Clancy Summer School and around the corner of The Clare Festival of Traditional Singing, I have recently finally moved into music articles. Interest is mainly in the traditional Irish music and singing, performed by a generation that is moving into history. Maunus Irish trad. I would love to see expansion of articles that cover Irish artists who play rock, blues, and pop. Artists that come to mind include: Rory Gallagher, U2, Thin Lizzy, Van Morrison, Gerry McAvoy (formerly of Nine Below Zero) and Glen Hansard. I am German, and an expert on Irish classical music (seemingly the only one here?). Started by creating articles on 19th-century figures like P. Cogan, J.W. Glover, W. Guernsey, W.H. Kearns, J. O'Kelly, J. Robinson, R.P. Stewart. Also created the subsection "Composers of note" in the subsection "Classical music in Ireland" of the page "Music of Ireland." Donal.hunt Worked with and have a lot of connections to Dublin bands that were active in the early 2000s including but not limited to The Frames, Mic Christopher, Mark Geary, Turn, Josh Ritter (technically not from Dublin) and The Swell Season.
