Overview

[edit]

The Indian and Pakistani Wikipedians cooperation board, like many Wikipedia reconciliation projects, serves to express some of the debates concerning Indian and Pakistani related articles on Wikipedia. Such debates can include, but are not exclusive to, naming disputes, interpretation of historical sources that have an effect on a number of articles and inclusion of the Indian/Pakistani names of towns, cities, islands that are connected to a particular party, but since, for myriad historical reasons, are in the jurisdiction of either Pakistan and India as they exist today. Issues concerning Kashmir-related content also fall under the scope of this board.

Initiatives

[edit]

Current initiatives

[edit]
  • (Initiative 1 with objectives and deadlines)

  • Initiative: Jammu & Kashmir Picture Gallery

Objective: Create a gallery of nice pictures, scenery, wonderful nature of Jammu & Kashmir (irrespective of it's Indian side or Pakistani side), as it's not possible for lots of people to go and see these places Deadline: No deadline, it can be an ongoing initiative Participants: Let's not take pictures from internet and post it, rather I would request actual pictures of this piece of land from the people of this land or photographers or tourists / visitors to this valley Place of Gallery: It can be segregated whether it's from Indian part or Pakistani part and be in respective Wikipedia pages, with exact location reference, so that others while visiting can go and see those places.

Hope this initiative is ok to plan by other members, a non-conflict issue I believe, can be a starting point.

Suggestions

[edit]
  1. India–Pakistan relations: The article has a lot of content but still needs to be sorted out in various ways. [Suggested by DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 00:18, 24 October 2018 (UTC)][reply]
  2. Pakistan: This article has recently gone through a copy-edit but still has a few lingering issues that need to be resolved before it can achieve featured status. The issues revolve around how best to deal with the, um, darker side of Pakistan. What needs to be said and, assuming it needs saying, how best to say it. I believe that more eyes on the material would help move this article forward.
  3. Muhammad Ali Jinnah: Another article that is getting some attention right now. Jinnah is a fascinatingly important character for both India as well as Pakistan and raising the quality of this article would be a great cooperative project for editors on this board.
  4. Ahle Sunnat Barelvi movement and Ahmed Raza Khan are facing POV and are written from opponents point of view. Non reliable and non neutral sources supported by a group of Wikipedians over this article needs urgent attention. See the talk pages of these articles.
  5. Kashmir conflict - The article is poorly sourced and contains a lot of WP:OR and WP:SYNTHESIS. The objective is to replace all the sources by WP:HISTRS and rewrite it according to such sources. (proposed October 2015).
  6. Muslim nationalism in South Asia - The article is completely unsourced. Need to find good-quality sources and rewrite it according to the sources. (proposed October 2015).
  7. Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, Ajmal Kasab, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, Asiya Andrabi and Ashiq Hussain Faktoo are mainly sourced with WP:NEWSORG and contain both factual content and opinion content. We should improve these Articles per WP:NOTNEWSPAPER. HIAS (talk) 14:31, 8 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
