The Graphics Lab is a project to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. Requests for image improvements can be added to the workshop pages: Illustrations, Photographs and Maps. For questions or suggestions one can use the talk pages: Talk:Graphics Lab, Talk:Illustrations, Talk:Photographs and Talk:Maps.
This specific page is the requests page for the illustration workshop. Anyone can make a request for an illustration to be improved or created for a Wikipedia article. Clicking the "New Request" button will bring you to a standard template for submitting requests, as well as general advice that should be followed.

Advice to requesters

All requests:

Please make sure your request is "legitimate" by copyright. If the image(s) are in the public domain or freely licensed, you are fine. If the image(s) are "Fair use", there are only certain things we can do with them without falling afoul of Wikipedia's fair-use policies.
- If you are requesting assistance with a copyright or fair-use image, don't display it on this page; place {{GLNF|Example.png|caption|align=left}} to create a link to it. Do not add the File: extension. Our fair-use policy does not allow displaying fair-use images out of their articles on ANY account.
Please check back regularly to see if progress has been made or if any additional questions need to be answered before the request can be completed.
If a request is done to your satisfaction, please mark it with {{resolved}}.

SVG requests:

Make sure your request can actually BE vectorized. Note that vector drawings are not suitable for certain applications. We generally use SVG format for icons, logos, drawings, maps, flags, and such. Certain things, photographs especially, are totally impossible to vectorize.
Per our non-free content policy, vectorization of copyrighted images is not permitted. If a vectorized non-free image is desired, seek out such an image from the copyright holder.

@QuickQuokka: Thank you, and sorry for the delay in responding. Well, all three designs originate from BBC Derby. According to the original website, the designer of the original concept was Leon Summers, with BBC Derby modifying his submission to create what was known as "Design 3". Which is also exactly what BBC Derby did with Martin Enright's submission, modifying it to create "Design 1" (which was of course chosen as Derbyshire's flag). Hence, I'd recommend giving the new file the same CR tag as "Design 1". Hope this helps. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 15:29, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Snow Lion Fenian: The description page of the file says it's released to the public domain by the author, and supposedly also the author (I don't really believe the uploader is the author), but there's no source to verify that unfortunately. @QuickQuokka: Good point, and profuse apologies for the excessively long delay in getting back to you. Well, I certainly don't pretend to be an expert on CR licenses on Wikipedia. The impression I've gotten is that the uploader wanted to waive their rights to the file, but went about it the wrong way, resulting in using a license that creates a slight bit of confusion. After considering it all, I'd now recommend giving the new file the "Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported", in order to cover the same bases while making it clear that the uploader is not the original designer. The version on the right, a higher definition file without motto, was already on Wikimedia. I also notice the file already on Wikimedia has a different colored sage branch behind the hawk. Request: This is a cobbled together coat of arms from various SVG elements. Everything is correct and in the right place(ish), it could just do with a tidy-up by someone more proficient than I am, especially with regards the text along the bottom. The blue cross in the centre ought really be a bit wider and the fleur de lis wider and larger as a result to maintain proportions. If anyone is able to clean it up, I'd be hugely grateful. Request: Can someone please create Diagrams of highway signs of Nepal from NH22 to NH80?

Here are some instructions on how to create these Diagrams:- Shape= rectangular (round corner), Frame=white, Background= Dark green, Text= white, Nepali font style=Preeti ttf/milan ttf, English font style=UK Transport heavy/ UK Transport medium.

The Nepali text should be placed up and English text should be down and Nepali font should be 17% larger than the English text.
