- I honestly don't think that this bot is necessary anymore as Wikidata is coming soon. All interwiki bots will be obsolete soon.—cyberpower ChatOffline 19:44, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I cannot find this info at wikidata, the fact that all interwiki bots will be obsolete when wikidata rolls out. It seems, in fact, not to say this, but I assume your info comes from discussions there. Could you provide a link? This seems to indicate that wikidata developers and editors are already aware this is not the case: "9. The expressiveness of Wikidata will be limited. There will always be examples of knowledge that Wikidata will not be able to convey. We hope that this expressiveness can increase over time." -166.137.210.25 (talk) 15:11, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- All interwikilinks are being transferred onto Wikidata. Per META:Wikidata/Status_updates/2013_02_01 "deployment on English Wikipedia for February 11" which just happens to be tomorrow. After deployment EN will read interwiki links from Wikidata. If you want to create an interwiki bot you are better of creating one to update wikidata. - Echoing Addshore. Which is why we are beginning to decline interwiki bots here.—cyberpower OnlineBe my Valentine 16:25, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I don't seem to be making my question clear. It seems from wikidata, that not all wikipedia information will be stored as wikidata, see my quote above from wikidata. Therefore, not all information on en.wiki will be interwikied through wikidata. So, how are inerwiki bots obsolete? Is there a discussion about interwiki bots becoming obsolete? Your links do not address this, and I have not found it addressed other than to note that not all information will be covered by wikidata. -166.137.210.27 (talk) 16:31, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Although not all data is no wikidata, interwiki links are... Wikipedia:Bot_owners'_noticeboard#Wikidata, Wikipedia_talk:Wikidata_interwiki_RFC http://blog.wikimedia.de/2013/01/30/wikidata-coming-to-the-next-two-wikipedias/. Interwiki bots linking from one project to another will be obsolete as the projects will be using the interwiki data that is stored on wikidata. See this as an example with all language project links on it. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 16:36, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- This is an odd assortment of tangential links, and I can find plenty tangential already. Maybe I should ask there, but the information is so unhelpful there, I wanted to try here first. Say you create an article on en.wiki that has no wikidata in it, and an article on urdu wikipedia on the same topic exists, how do the two become linked? -166.137.210.27 (talk) 16:46, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- A bot on wikidata will add the EN link to the wikidata entry that also contains the urdu link. It is essentially a interwikibot but it only edits wikidata. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 16:52, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I see, it is that interwiki bots have been migrated. Thanks. -166.137.210.26 (talk) 16:59, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
