School Culture

The school's culture revolves around the phrase "Gulo Gulo." This phrase is tied together with the "Wolverine Way." [7] The Gulo Gulo hand sign represents a Wolverine paw. The hand is raised with the fingers folded inwards towards the palm, and the thumb is held parallel to the ground.]

One popular site for students attending the school is Bearded Games. The site is a Adobe Flash gaming website that is accessible despite Forsyth County Schools's internet filters. One of the features of the site that has contributed to its success in school settings is the "Panic Button" that temporarily hides the website without stopping or restarting the current flash game.

Bomb Scare

The vandalism that caused the panic.

On Friday, April 23, 2010, the school had a bomb scare. Four juveniles entered the school property around 2 am and vandalized the exterior of the school with spray paint.

Another bomb threat at a different location (seen on the Robotics Team trailer).

The suspects left obscene messages including drawings of genitalia, vulgar insults, and racist messages. A student had left a car overnight, which was vandalized and had smashed windows.

Upon arrival to school students were greeted by these images. Word spread of a bomb threat spray painted in several spots. It warned of a 10:45 bomb. Subsequently hundreds of students left the building by either being picked up by parents or leaving on their own accord (abeit without school consent). However, the school officials made no acknowledgment of the bomb threat. A couple hundred students remained in the school at 10:45. No bomb ever did go off, and none was ever found.[8][9][10]
