The Doris and Alex Weber Jewish Community High School, formerly New Atlanta Jewish Community High School, is a trans-denominational Jewish high school located in Sandy Springs, Georgia, a suburban Atlanta-metro area city.

Mission

The school's mission is to prepare students to be knowledgeable, thinking, responsible, Jewish adults.[3].

History

Formerly named the New Atlanta Jewish Community High School or NAJCHS, the Weber School opened with nineteen students in August 1997[2]. Classes were initially held in the Atlanta Jewish Community Center before moving to modular units at Zaban Park[2].

The school was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) in December 1999[2].

In September 2003, the school was renamed the Doris and Alex Weber Jewish Community High School[2].

Before being renamed in honor of the Weber family, the school was referred to as "New Jew" by local Jewish youths to distinguish it from the Atlanta area's oldest Jewish high school, Yeshiva Atlanta, as well as the nearby Riverwood High School which is sometimes referred to as "the Jewish public school".

Campus

In September 2006 the school held the dedication for their new facility at the corner of Abernathy and Roswell Road in Sandy Springs, GA. Classes were first held in the few facility in September 2006[2].
